Food: Mixed bag. Caesar salads were tasty (aside from having tomatoes added). My Italian sausage pasta had very good sausage, decent pasta, but the sauce felt like Chef Boyardee. On the other hand, someone in our party had one of the gnocchi dishes, and raved over it.Drink: Good wine list, including some reasonably priced bottles. Some cocktails, but the ingredient list was limited.Service: Service was friendly but spotty. Took ten minutes to get some butter to go with the (tasty) bread, rather than the olive oil. Some dishes were cleared quickly, others took a while.Ambience: Both the restaurant and the staff had an upscale vibe on the inside. The exterior, though, doesn't impress (except by how full the parking lot was on an early Saturday evening).Overall: Wish I could give a 3.5. I'd return here again if our friends wanted to, but I'm not sure I'd pick it by choice.
This is a real bummer. This place was our literal favorite in Broomfield, but I don't know what happened as of late, but the flavors aren't what they used to be. And then yesterday, after I worked 32 hours in two days, came home to have father's day dinner with my wife and kid, we ordered our favorite place. They sent us this calamari, which was wildly over cooked and had zero flavor. When I say overcooked, I mean it tasted burnt. Doesn't look too bad, but it was horrendous, seriously. So I had to call about this one. The girl who answered the phone said she couldn't do anything. In fact, she said "I literally just had this same thing happen 20 minutes ago and my manager said there's nothing we can do."To which I said, "so the guys in the back are just burning the s*** out of everyone's food and sending it out and we just pay for it and live with it?" So I asked for a manager email I could reach out to.I was out on hold for 7 minutes and then told to "just call back tomorrow." Which felt more like a way for them to hope I'd forget about it by morning. But this hasn't sat well with me.One of the best things they did in the past was their perfectly cooked calamari. But this was horrible. And then to basically be told that I paid for it, live with it, that's not the way things are done.I've recommended Scalzotto in the past, as recently as last week, but that probably won't be the case anymore. Two stars because of how literally GREAT it used to be.
Lovely restaurant and simply delicious food. The restaurant is well decorated for an inviting atmosphere, cozy intimate seating with several outdoor enclosed seating areas to choose from.Waitress was well versed in the gluten-free options and gave several recommendations and provided an adjustment to the desert menu. For starters the Caprese was light , fresh and a compliment to the fettuccine alfredo with broccoli and chicken. Dessert was the strawberry panna cotta with crushed walnuts only (granola is not gluten-free) and the profiterole (not gluten-free). Beautifully served dishes and the gluten-free pasta was perfectly perpared. An absolutely delicious meal and many compliments to the team for such a pleasant experience.
I have always loved the caprese salad at @scalzotto_restaurant it’s very cute served on a board shaped like Italy. The lasagna was also very good. I believe it was made with fresh pasta.
Delicious Italian food with a true European feel. The portions sizes are huge and had great flavor. Pieces were reasonable for the quality good served. We also tried the desserts which were super yummy as well! They seem to opening a 2nd location in the next month, so check them out!
GLUTEN FREE PEOPLE BEWARE!! So I called in for a to go order and during ordering had a question of how the gluten free spaghetti and meatballs were made since usually the meatballs contain breadcrumbs. The woman on the phone assured me they were gluten free and only meat. After picking up and eating at home, I tasted a bread like taste from the meatballs. I called back and talked to a manager. They said there WAS breadcrumbs in the meatballs and that the woman was wrong. I asked why it was listed under gluten free pastas and he nonchalantly said it was because they can substitute gluten free pasta in it. I explained that’s not how that works and that people usually need the whole dish gluten free if it’s listed in the gluten free section. He ignored me and said he would try to refund part of my order. I also found long and short spaghetti noodles in my dish. Hoping I don’t get sick from this but the manager could care less about the situation. Would NOT recommend this place. Stay away!!
I had a chance to eat amazing, authentic italian pasta in the US. It was a great experience! Very friendly staff, will be back!
Omg so good!! The restaurant is a hidden gem. It's in a strip shopping center but don't be fooled. The first is excellent. The Bolognese was fab. the penne toscata, wonderful with aan excellent cream sauce. The wine, a Barolo, very good. The service, excellent. A true find.
So we went to try this place based on a recommendation from a person we met at verizon. She told me this was by far the best place for italian food that she has tried in colorado but my was she wrong. This was by far the most aweful italian food i have tried. The calamari was ok it wasnt bad for sure and it was the best part of my meal since my lasagna tasted nothing like lasagna. The lasagna made by stouffers in the frozen food aisle tasted way better than theirs. Their lasagna tasted all mushy and like it was one whole piece with no layers of pasta just mushy meatballs is what it tasted like. The spaghetti was really weird with huge thick noodles and flavor was off. My 2 friends said theirs wasnt bad but had a stomach ache when they got home. The only reason i gave this place 2 stars instead of one is because for some reason my son said this place had the best chicken alfredo that he has tried and he actually ate all his food this time and that is rare so i give them that. I wouldnt go here again for sure and if i did it would be to order chicken alfredo to go for my son other than that the rest of the food was subpar.
Food was good service is nothing to write home about! Food is over priced, but I guess that comes with the location. Also, you have to pay $3 for bread. I would recommend this place for a date night as this would be the only time I would pay $20 for a pasta dish. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for a family with little kids as Scallzotto’s doesn’t have a kids menu.
