Until today I loved this place and then the following happened. We were sitting outside on the patio enjoying ourselves when an umbrella flew from the table behind us narrowly missing my head (metal pole) crashing my drink onto the table sending plates flying. Luckily fellow diners came to our rescue. We immediately decided to go inside and sat down in a booth - I was extremely shaken by what had happened. An employee comes up to us and started talking to us in a raised and extremely agitated voice telling us we need to move that this wasn't our waitress's area and that he'd just had it bussed. He refused to listen to why we'd just sat down and walked away extremely agitated and moved us to another area. Even though we explained what had happened and how I had narrowly avoided a flying metal pole on my head there was zero concern for me as a customer. We asked them to comp my margarita as I was wearing at least half of it because of the incident they refused. We again explained to our waitress what had happened. The manager (previous agitated employee) comes over and continues in his extremely agitated manner to question my friend as to why he should comp her margarita which she was still drinking. No I'm so sorry, no concern, nothing. We got the price of my margarita removed. In all the years I've lived in Colorado I have never ever been 'yelled' at in a restaurant, in fact I've never ever been yelled at in a restaurant period. I will not be returning and FYI the umbrellas on the patio are not fixed securely into their bases - they are heavy and could do significant damage if they land on you.
Sat at the bar and ate for one. I saw a crew and man in charge that were very attentive and seemed to know a lot of people by name. In today's time where service is dead, this restaurant was quite refreshing. The food was delicious. The staff willing to talk and offer suggestions. The rare occasion I spotted someone not quite giving their all it seemed the whole team rallied, especially the guy in charge offering what seemed to be good hearted leadership steering to the correct direction.Maybe I came on a good night, but hands down this night was good. I hope my travels bring me back this way one day. If you're in the area, hungry, and want to see what service was like before the Covid killed it...come to this place.
I love this place.I go here with my family at least once a week, and I've never had a bad experience. The menu is large, and some items are designed for multiple people. This is good if you have an entire family that needs food but don't want to spend a lot of money. The service is really excellent even when its busy. This place deserves more than 5 stars in my mind.
Don't order the chimichanga to go. I don't even know where all this liquid came from! Did I order soup?!I paid like 50 bucks for a meal so I tried to force myself to ear what I could. Honestly it was pretty gross.. girlfriend got nachos and that was pretty kinda ok
The perfect stop at the end of a long day cycling!Got fajitas for two people even though it was just me. Trust me, I earned it ;-) and it was delicious!
Really good food and great staff. They accommodated us with everything we asked for. Very attentive and always asking if we need anything.
This place simply does not care. They basically throw the items on your table and run away. They roll their eyes and exhibit all sorts of contempt. And then there is the food. Terrible. The chili is like dishwater, and the food is never warm. They act like having a total of 5 sat tables is a huge rush. Truly one of the worst restaurants ever. You will very much regret it if you go there.
For years I have enjoyed coming to El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant, until today. For the years I have participated in drink and food I was impressed. Today is the exception, I should have check the Google reviews before I returned. With the average being 3.8, I understand why.. The accommodation to someone's diet request does not exist. What is on the paper is what you get. Disappointing
I'm sorry to say with everything going on, but yesterday's lunch was awful! Our churros weren't fried completely, still gooey in the center. I ordered ala carte, my taco shell was burnt and the ground beef wasn't seasoned at all. I'm not exaggerating. My Chili relleno still had solid cold cheese inside, not melted. Our server was obviously stressed out, not friendly at all, but attentive. My Husband ordered steak ranchero plate and the steak was way over cooked. I don't know what happened or is happening, but we won't be back to this location. The one in Golden is great!
This is a great family friendly Mexican restaurant. Guillermo is the man. I highly recommend it to anyone. Service and food are top notch.
