The food was phenomenally flavored and presented in a manner that very much made us feel like it was made with love. The hostess/server, Laxmi, was incredibly warm and attentive. We will for sure make this a go-to for our visits to Boulder.
The Taj is a family-owned, community gem and has been a Boulder staple for around 30+ years. So many reviews have said it all.My brief take is that the menu is incredibly delicious, and lovingly created over the years by the late and beloved owner. The family is so friendly and welcoming. Did I mention the food is delicious?I’m also super impressed with their Zero Waste policy for food. Makes so much sense in a town like Boulder. It shows how aware they are of excessive food waste and their footprint, all while encouraging mindful eating (honestly I could use more of that with my lockdown pounds). Sign me up!!!Can’t say enough good things.
This was our first time dining at Taj and we loved it! The food was authentic and delicious. The ambiance was peaceful and the service was spectacular. Laxmi our server was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We really enjoyed talking with her and learning about the family business that’s been operating for the last 26 years in Boulder! It was a wonderful experience and we highly recommend!
Met my son for dinner - used to come for the buffet when he was at CU. Sadly buffet only at the weekends, however the new combo plate is excellent. Staff/owners are lovely, food is tasty, well presented and lots of it. Definitely remains a favourite spot in Boulder!
The best Indian food my wife and I have had. We've been to a bunch of places in Boulder-Denver area, but nothing is as good!We love the dinner buffet, but they didn't have it on the night we went. We thought we'd be sad, but they have single person platters with basically a little buffet! Has everything my wife and I usually get when we eat the buffet.Great food, great chill music, great focus on giving guests great options during these wild times.Be back for the lunch buffet soon!
Fantastic Indian food in a scenic location with magnificent views of the Flatirons. Particular favorites: the garlic naan and veggie samosas, and the various curries. The staff are warm and welcoming. We've been doing takeout from here throughout the pandemic, and we're now thrilled to be able to eat indoors in this beautiful location once more.
This place used to be much better. The dining room has a great view, but needs a cleaning. The back hallway is cluttered with junk and smells musty. The service was terrible. Our server was rude and slow. The buffet wasn’t refreshed. The food was tasty. I was going to write that you should get takeout and skip dine in. However both me and my lunch companion had upset stomachs after eating here. They are across the street from the University. They are a faculty and staff favorite. I think this is what keeps them going. If they were in a suburban neighborhood they would go out of business. There are other better options for Indian food in Boulder. Disappointing, they used to be one of my favorites. Go to a different restaurant.
The service was excellent. My order consisted of lamb korma with a side of plain Naan bread. The dish was good and would fill you up quick. They serve the buffet until 2:30PM so you would need to show up early in the day.
They've started to bring back the buffet which is exciting. They have all the standard Indian dishes you could want and they do them well, but as a vegetarian, they are the only ones in town that will make you sweet potato masala and it is an absolute treat.
We love Indian food and look for great places across the Metro area. I wanted to give it 2.5 stars. The staff was friendly and the place was clean. It was very cold inside which made it uncomfortable. We felt there was a lack of seasoning with all the food. I usually Love Korma but I found their version bland and not a good flavor. The tiki Masala was better but still bland. The Naan was very thick and sweet tasting. We also had tandoori which was OK. The chicken biryiani ( spelling) was good, still not a lot of flavor but the chicken was tender. Some was served in small metal dishes and the rice was served in take out boxes that resembles Chinese take out so the presentation was a bit off. The Chai is pre-made and is already sweet which I prefer non sweet Chai so that was a bummer as I love Chai! We fed 7 people for just under $150. It was a decent price but that wasn't including expensive drinks. For drinks we only ordered one beer and 2 Chai. We still had some food left over but partly because we didn't care for it.
