4.5 stars seriously, how does this place stay in business, oh because there’s nothing in Gunbarrel! I love when there’s 4 adults all patiently waiting for their 1st drinks after sitting down & 12 minutes later they bring out 2 of the drinks, another 5 minutes later they bring out the other 2, that’s restaurant serving 101… service is terrible here & it wasn’t crowded. They brought a bunch of plates for all of us to use for the pizzas & 2 of them were dirty, my beer was almost flat & barely cold. Only came here to meet friends who chose it, don’t go to Protos, especially this one!
Normally I would have given this restaurant 5 stars. The food was good, as was the service. However, we were seated outside (by choice) and the ambience was less than ideal. Shortly after our food arrived the kitchen staff started bringing out large, heavy, dirty rubber mats and throwing them down on the concrete just a few feet from where we were eating. It was, to put it mildly, disgusting.
Hard not to love consistently delicious pizza and excellent service. Make sure to ask for their chili oil to dip your pizza crusts in; so good!
Lunch special @protospizzagunbarrel is a reasonably good deal. Caesar salad, and The Proto Pie also came with a drink and you could add on a cannoli or gelato dessert. I opted for the amazing flourless chocolate cake special. I’d like to go back and try some of the other pizzas. It was a nice area lots of parking in the structure across the street. I liked the vibe inside.
The staff are very friendly here. The pizza is amazing and there is a good selection of house wine. Salads are also very good. They usually seem a little short staffed but that may be due to a high volume of takeout orders. Overall a great place.
Mediocre pizzas, when i was there, I saw them throwing the receipt at the guy packing my pizza and the receipt which was at the table, landed inside of the package. Disgusting, I just threw it away. No hygienic practices exist at this place.
Uncommonly good pizza and one of my go-tos on this end of town. They usually have a dessert special, I always ask. And their Caprese is excellent, but they call it a tomato mozzarella, they have a separate salad called a Caprese, so good to be clear about what you want. Staff is friendly, during Covid they bring it to your car. It's popular enough that if you have a common first name I suggest adding a last name initial to your order!
Good meet up mid-point between Boulder and Longmont Fantastic food and great wine. Ordered a couple of pies to take home to the families so food was double enjoyed. Short-staffing led to longer than expected wait for the check. I'm not judging. Things are tough all over.
What an amazing pizza place! We got the Proto Pie and it was delicious probably the best pizza I've had in Colorado! The desserts were amazing as well, the cannoli was fantastic and I would recommend anybody to try it! I will definitely be returning to this restaurant soon!
Nice place, quiet street, sidewalk tables very pleasant. Full bar and great pizza (especially the Fridays clam pizza!
