I just went there and some lady and dude gave me MOLDED BREAD! They told me I could not get a refund because I ate some of my food. When I realize there was mold on my bread I stoped eating right away. The lady was rude and did not handle the situation correctly! Thank you for poor customer service!
One of the few places that still has such a warm greeting! Menu looks like good comfort food. OK - had their catfish sandwich to go. Bread - OK. Lettuce and tomato - good and fresh. Catfish - this is real gem! Perfectly breaded, seasoned and cooked. Also a great side to this: their Swirk rice. Must be a family recipe - never heard of it but SO layered and warm with flavor! Also had: BBQ Beef sammy and pulled pork sammy. Could use more meats but the flavor was right on. Yeah, this is good comfort soul food.
Ok.. NOOOOOO . First off it took more than 10 minutes to notice we entered the store, and no one greeted us until a beautiful young lady came out the kitchen to give another customer their order. She had exceptional customers service and was very polite and smiled the whole time. Now to the food. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. There were store brought pound cakes in the display when you first walk in. What????? Get out of here .Yikes the brisket was very fatty, hard and cherry all in one bite. That's a bad combo!!!!!! The Mac and cheese was worst than Kraft Mac and cheese. Very bland and tasteless. The hot link was hard and felt like rubber. The 7 eleven hot dog was more edible than the hot link. The fish had a bad smell to it and was very salty. Could not go past one bite. Ok!!!!!!!!!!! Y'all what's going on Colorado has no good bbq restaurants or even soul food. What's going on. Where's the good restaurants at... Idk I need someone cousin or uncle number, because backyard bbq and Sunday soul food days need a come back.
I reviewed this place back in 2017 and have frequented a few times since then. I have never been disappointed. The owner is very friendly and service oriented. Went here with two friends. My order was the catfish sandwich and hush puppies (about $10.00). One friend had the perch platter and she really liked it. Other friend had sausage platter that could have feed the three of us. All of us liked our choices. Lot of take out business going on. Parking is easy in this small strip mall.
The so-called BBQ was not BBQ at all! I think it was cooked in the oven. The peach cobbler is not real peach cobbler it's like some bread baked over peaches. I thought the cake was going to be like homemade nope store bought. The sweet potato pie also tastes like it's store bought. The greens were canned and no type of flavor added. The Mac and Cheese noodles were way over cooked. The only things I like is the gizzards but it shouldn't have whatever type of spice that is added to the flour it tastes weird. Please y'all put some more love in the soul food! Y'all got to do better!
What a horrible experience! I received 3 very small pieces of fish. None of my requests were honored. When I called the restaurant to discuss it. The manager yelled "You get your refund from Grubhub! I'm done with you". I was so confused because I was only discussing issue respectfully and he just blew up.I'm from New Orleans and trust me, this restaurant does not do Soul Food correctly and then the manager has a very nasty attitude to boot!I'm done with them!
I've ordered the pork and beef ribs, and the pork ones are much better, mostly falling off the bone. The beef was somewhat under done and thus would not come off the bone. The chicken falls off the bone but still juicy. The sides are good, especially the hush puppies. The Mac and cheese is creamy.
I ordered the biggest platter they have available. It comes with 1 filet, 2 ribs, a hit link, chicken thigh&leg, 4 shrimp, and 2 sides. I got fried Okra and Corn bread. Firstly... I didn't even get my cornbread, I got a double serving of okra, which normally I would not have minded as I love fried Okra, however they were terrible. It looked as if they were made in large batches and kept under a heating lamp all day. They were shriveled and dry... which as anyone who has eaten okra knows, is exceedingly hard to do. I chose a catfish filet and while the fish was cooked well it was severely lacking in flavor. Even an extra dash of salt would have helped this bland filet. They should have also trimmed it better knowing it was going in the deep fryer. The ends of the filet were very thin leading to them shriveling and getting very rubbery once cooked. The ribs were probably the worst thing on the entire platter. I went to pick one up and the bone was so charred that the bone literally broke off and the whole rib fell in my lap. It seems to me that the fire was much too hot as the outside of the ribs were done but you could easily tell they should have cooked longer. I would recommend lowering the temp by at least 100° because for then to get that burnt outside and remain uncooked on the interior implies extremely high heat and short cook time... the sauce was good though. The chicken thigh was a bit dry and really didn't stand out much from everything else. I can easily say the 4 shrimp they give you are the best part of the meal, however even those seemed blank and oily. I see they cook all the fish fresh to order so I can only assume that their deep fryer is very dirty and the oil should he changed soon... you can tell by how greasy the breading was and also the color after deep frying... the darker the shade the dirtier your oil is (when cooking for proper cook times) brand new oil leaves you with a very light golden shade. Probably won't come back again. It definitely wasn't worth the $26.50 I paid.
Out of probably over a 150 restaurants I've picked up food from in the metro area Swirk Soul Food has consistently been the worst experience. Tonight I waited for ten minutes before I could even get someone to tell me they were actually working on my order. When I asked for an estimated wait time I was scoffed at. They said they didn't want to give me an estimate because I'd be mad if it was off. This is NOT unusual for this place at all. They just simply don't care about providing any useful information that a normal place would happily provide. And the food is absolutely never ready on time or even close to it.
Excellent customer service at this location. The young lady that took our order was super sweet and attentive. She did her job with a smile on her face. The food was great too. Ordered wings, Mac n Cheese, fish, shrimp and fries. Highly recommended.
