Came in for mother's day. Waiter with dreads was a horrible waiter. Missed several orders. 2 plates came really late. And the food was tasteless. Margaritas were just sugar. Was never checked in on and overhead the waiter talking very negative to other staff. Horrible service. The food runner was the only saving grace and the Manger took care of us. But won't be coming back.
Getting sat was quick, even though it looked like it may take a while. The serving staff was friendly, courteous, quick, and did everything very well. We had a trainee tagging along to our table, and sage was wonderful, as well. The food was awesome. This may be the new favorite Mexican food place.
The food was delicious.....but the service. We sat at the bar top and there was only one other couple there. The bartender on the night of 2/4/22 was too busy starting her closing duties to care about customers (we came in at 7:30 pm). She got our drinks quickly, although my margarita wasn't filled to the rim like usual. We then had to ask to order food, get napkins, get plates, get utensils, and finally had to ask for a beer. We even had to ask for our check to leave. Even when we asked for these items, we would have to wait while she put glasses away or chatted with coworkers. Good thing there different restaurants in the area to go to from now on!
I'm glad we didn't read the reviews first and decide not to come. Seems like most of the complaints are about takeout. We ate in.We loved it. Despite being short staffed, they did a great job. They told us it would be a 20-25 wait when we go there, but less than 5 minutes later, we had a table. Our waiter Jose was excellent. He came around often to check on us. The food was really good, too. The chips and salsa are some of the best I've had, and the queso was pretty good. I got some special chicken fajitas and my got the honey something or other shrimp. Both very good.Sadly the On the Border chips (and probably salsa) and queso they sell at the store are really nothing like at the restaurant, but I guess that's to be expected.
It has been going downhill and I think it has hit rock bottom at this location. Good did not taste good. Margarita was disgusting. They made it twice and it tasted completely different each time. Server was rude and unresponsive even before we complained about the drink. We love this chain but we are done.
Overall the food here is decent. The service is typically okay. So why only three stars? It seems like some dishes come out extremely over salted. My last experience was my first time getting this but my roommate commented that the this had happened to them in the past as well.
My husband and I decided to escape for a late lunch date, just the two of us. We have always loved the atmosphere at On the Border, so we decided a margarita and chips sounded perfect. Upon arrival, we were seated and greeted by our server (Nolan) immediately. He apologized for any delays as they were short staffed (supposed to have 8, but only had 2 servers). In spite of being short staffed, he was extremely attentive and polite to everyone he interacted with. I was impressed from start to finished and greatly appreciate allowing us to have the relaxing time away we were hoping for. Excellent service by the entire staff.
Horrible service the Mexican lady that was waitress was irritated at us the whole time. I was really surprised how disrespectful she was she was seems didn’t want to be around any people! Well she shouldn’t be a waitress then. She actually asked us are you gonna take long for us to order and I told her is there somewhere she needs to be cause we didn’t order right away and were asking questions about menu. Then we were ready to order she said I have to do something real fast and left in the middle of me ordering and ran off. I did not leave a tip and will never return her again!! Do not go here horrible staff here and not that good of food it was cold and didn’t have a good taste I can make better.
Vets dinner yummy, Ilene our server was amazing kind helpful even tho she was limping and in some pain she still made it about us and our dinner out so sweet
While I’m sure they are currently understaffed, the service was adequate and the food good. If you like on the border, you’ll like your experience here.
