wonderful school house motif. excellent bar in the school library. tasty food & beverage selection . maybe try a bit harder for the vegetarian crowd. loved the fried chicken & mashed potatoes. the cheese cake was off the hook too.
Good times. Great drinks.
I’m native Colorado and I can’t believe I missed out on this wonderful place. Service was amazing!!! food tasted 100% amazing!!! And with all types off whiskey you can drink. I would 110% come back for some more.
A staple restaurant for my family because they have gluten free and good kid options. My kids love to sit on the roof. Amazing whiskey/scotch collection and drink menu. The grilled romaine salad is so good and huge.
Great food and fabulous service!!!
We stumbled across this place while strolling around the charming downtown area of Arvada. Initially, our impression was rocky as we were greeted by a hostess with an obvious “liquid eyeliner addiction “who couldn’t manage a smile at any cost. Our party of four requested a table anywhere away from kids as we’ve had many meals ruined by squealing brats. Yet “Elvira” immediately tried to seat us next to the only children in the restaurant saddled with two squirming screeching kids. Apparently, she didn’t hear not once but out two clear requests to be seated away from children. Apparently, she spent too much time hanging out with her gal pals “Molly “and “Tina” the night before. We ran into the bar and were immediately greeted by fresh smiling faces and grabbed a table. We split the Brussel sprouts for the appetizer, and they were excellent. I got the fried chicken, which was divine, while my one guest had the pot roast. The roast was fab but the mushroom gravy was next level good. I’m mean top 5 good! The other guest had meatloaf which was moist and delicious.. also right up there. The restaurant was very charming with the school house theme and our table ( most in the bar) had the periodic tables on it. We actually knew most of the symbols!! Service ( sans Elvira) was excellent and the meals were all around excellent! Home style cooking here made for a very memorable meal! Highly recommended spot!
Good food.pretty busy when we went waitress seemed a little overwhelmed had too ask for somethings 2 to 3 times. .and I'm not a whiskey drinker but supposedly it has the most selection in colorado. Not sure.
*SERIOUS BOURBON DRINKERS BEWARE* My buddy’s took me out for my bday and after dinner we decided to go get a nightcap at School House. A few of us are bourbon nerds so we were excited about the wall of bourbon offerings. Buddy orders the Michter’s 10 year Rye, and I ordered the Old Fitz 14 year. Two extremely hard to find unicorns at a very high price point. I was facing the bar and notice the server pouring the standard Michter’s straight rye, a $40 dollar bottle. I approach the bar tender to let her know that is the incorrect bottle. At this point she has already poured his full pour. She turns around and says, “we didn’t have the 10 year, or your Old Fitz 14 year”. I asked her, so you were just going to give him a pour that doesn’t match? At this point you could tell she was clueless as to what I was even talking about. We told her never mind and walked out. On the way out, we asked to see the manager. We explained the story to him and with glazed look on his face he was emotionless. Nothing. No reaction, no concern. We were stunned and had to ask him his thoughts? Seriously? He actually defended his staff. No apology, nothing. Now keep in mind this is a whiskey bar. A whiskey bar with one of the largest whiskey selections in CO. We asked him why our server would be pouring our expensive bourbon and not the bartender. He then replied with, “everyone is a bartender in this area. I guess that means some are in need of a bit more training on bourbons, and the ethic act of serving the right pour. My question is how much does this happen? What was she going to bring me for my pour they also didn’t have? *OWNERS OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT* Time for a management review, and some heavier training with your staff. This is Unacceptable when customers are dropping 20 plus dollars on an oz. pour. Time to take a hard look at how you want this place to be ran. Customer service is key.
WARNING**** I took one of my buddies out for a night cap for his birthday. We were excited to check this place out as they have the largest bourbon list in Colorado! I ordered a Michters 10 year rye which is very rare and hard to find. We watched the server start to pour the regular rye and we confronted her about it. The server was clueless! 27 dollar pour versus 7 dollars. Good thing we caught her! We tried to talk to the Manager and this is when it got super shady. He seemed completely unbothered by it and we asked why the bartender didn’t pour the whisky. Someone knowledgeable of the over 400 plus plus whiskeys on their shelf. He responded by saying, everybody’s a bartender!! How many times does this happen on the daily?! Just by the sheer reaction of the manager shows that the people in this place are completely untrained and uncapable of running an establishment serving bourbons upwards to $300 pours. This should be handled with much more care. Completely unprofessional. If you were a bourbon fan, this is not the place to go as you could be ripped off around any corner due to the UNTRAINED staff and the INCOMPETENT manager.
Stopped in for a quick drink. The theme is fun and the drink list is expansive. Definitely a place to check out and I hope to be back to try their food.
