Wish I had taken a photo of the setting and the meal but I just didn't think of it. Fabulous meal, delicious food, great setting. The sushi looked good but seemed extra pricey and we decided to go to another sushi place later in the week so we decided to not get sushi. The bread was warm and soft and yummy, soft butter. We started with veggie egg rolls ($8); they were deep fried and fairly oily but really tasty and good portion. For entree, I had the skirt steak ($25). Large portion of delicious and well-prepared steak with a terrific sauce, with onions and corn on top, and a small side of rice and a good size side salad. My wife had the red clam chowder ($10) and a caesar salad ($9). She said the chowder was top gourmet, perhaps the best she's ever had. I tasted it; It was pretty awesome. She liked the caesar too. The service was good. Patio dining right on Westlake with umbrellas and comfortable chairs, weather was sunny and warm, beautiful water view. Birds chirping and hanging out. Just a great experience. Will definitely go back.
Ordered two teriyaki chicken bento boxes and two Mongolian beef bento boxes. The chicken was thin, crispy and charred, similar to overcooked bacon. It was extremely dry and tasted like charcoal. The teriyaki sauce didn't seem to have been used to marinade the chicken. I've had way better teriyaki chicken at Yoshinoya or Teriyaki Madness for a quarter of the price. As far as the Mongolian beef, it was really a thick syrupy glaze over strips of beef. Unfortunately, they were cold. The California roll sushi was not what I expected. It was a puree rolled in sushi rice and nori. Not sure what was in it because I could see or taste the individual sliced cucumber, avocado, and crabsticks. And we had to ask for chopsticks, wasabi and ginger. Because it was a reunion with old friends, we asked the busboy to take a picture for us, but he said he didn't do that. So the next table guests offered to take the photo. This was my second time after a few years, but I probably won't return, even for the beautiful lakeside sunset view.
Food was great and service was good...but that is where it ended. We went here to try a new restaurant with a gift card a friend had given us. We're excited to go and try some great sounding food, which it was. Went to pay and oh no the gift card machine is down. Never heard of such a thing, but said ok, enjoyed the evening, and was looking forward to coming back anyway. Paid bill and off we went. Two days later noticed the restaurant had over charged what we had put on the bill. Was not happy, but called them to get it fixed. Talked to several managers all stating "will look into it and call you back". Have not heard from one of them. So good food, but the management and policies leave something to be desired. Will think twice before going back even with the unused gift card we still have. Oh well, watch your bill here.
Shrimp tempura average at best. "All in" roll seemed to have some ingredients left out and lots of fake crab mix instead. Not good. The "she's the one roll" was missing shrimp but flavor was decent thanks to the onions. Didn't see any snow crab in it, just fake crab salad and some type of fish piece. Disappointed, won't order from here again. Advertised rolls are not what you get with appently cheap ingredient substition. Don't go here.
The quality is worth the price. The menu is eclectic. The dishes we ordered were delicious. Seen below sea bass with grilled vegetables (awesome but a but pricey), seared tuna appetizers (excellent), two kinds of sushi rolls (robust and filling), pecan caramel cake (delectable), lava cake (outstanding)! So why 4 stars? The service was great at the beginning of the evening but it seems the staff have difficulty multi-tasking with more customers. Go early!
Food is great. Decent prices. The location is great, right off of the lake. The atmosphere is great when it is not so busy but it usually is. The staff is awesome but they can be overwhelmed at times when it gets really busy so you may be waiting for a bit to be served. It usually doesn't bother me when it takes a while to get served since you can see the staff hustling and not just standing around. Always a good experience, lunch or dinner.
Getting a little shy on fish servings for the special rolls. Got one of my rolls wrong, took a while to correct it and even still did not serve it with lemon on top as described on the menu. Spicy garlic edamame should have garlic that you can see on it as well as chilies. They served me some weird sauce instead that tasted like a mildly spicy soy sauce. The seafood chowder was delish. I will pass on the sushi next time. Great atmosphere on the patio. We came at4: 30pm on a Saturday.
Enjoyed the outdoor dining by the lake. Food was delicious especially the fish collar appetizer. Very good and friendly service
Okay food. Great desserts. Wonderful location.
The sushi was completely fine. Nothing special at all, but acceptable. The service however, was just horrific. It honestly seemed as though every person there from the hostess to the server had something else on their minds.Forgot our menus that we specifically asked for, waitress was nowhere to be found most of the time, which is surprising since there were probably only four occupied tables in the whole restaurant. Our appetizers came after the main course. Just a sh-t show. Sad, actually.
