Stopped by Fashion Valley today and saw The Counter being open. So my wife and I had lunch. She had Nashville chicken and I had the Counter burger with sweet potatoes. Both were excellent and great customer service from the two ladies working there. Too bad the mall construction did not complete as we did not see more foot traffic on this side of the mall. We will be back!

It has been some time since eating here...Our food was delicious! ....A side note..when our waitress came up to our table I asked how she was doing..as she started to reply, she began crying...she politely walked away. After regaining her composure, I asked her what what happened. The last customer felt it necessary to belittle her in front of the restaurant. Now I know, there are always two sides to a story, but to bring a young waitress to tears, what is wrong with people??

Had some issues with the service at the beginning, but the food was good and they finished strong. My custom burger was great, and the fries were amazing.

I have a lot of great things to say about The Counter but I will try to keep it brief. If you haven’t given them a try assuming they are a basic burger shop, man-oh-man you need to give them a try. This is why: • They serve the best shoestring fries like the expensive restaurants, without the price tag. • The best BLT with Avocado I have had in The Bay Area!! • Crispy Tater Tots! • So many protein options: Beef, Bison, Chicken, Fish, Vegan or Impossible anyone? • If you are like me and love dipping sauces, they have a huge menu of homemade options to dunk those crispy fries or tots. • Gluten -free? No sweat, they have multiple options, my favorite being building a custom salad to put the burger. • Fresh veggies and plenty of them. • Milk shake fan? Better get over there! • Patio dining with bistro lights…especially beautiful at sunset. • Execution is flawless every time I have eaten there...talented kitchen staff. • They are local and need support of its locals. This place isn’t funded by franchise money or deep corporate pockets so spend your money here where quality and value exceeds cost and keep Walnut Creek thriving with unique shops! We are losing a lot of mom-and-pop gems due to economic woes from the pandemic. Do not let The Counter be one of them, they are too unique and too delicious! YUM!

Burger was cold, beef was very badly cooked. Worst burger that I ever had. 20% service charge for getting a burger and a soda!!!!

I am an Artisan Burger Junky. I wish they had grass fed beef, but wherever they get their beef is a good source of really tasty beef! I thoroughly enjoyed my burger on a fresh Brioche, and really loved the ketchup, mustard, pickle relish sauce they packed in my take out container! I was really disappointed in the limp, a bit greasy Parmesan fries, so don’t bother getting those, however, the deep flavor of the beef burger is what would have warranted five stars, if we had not had the mishap with my friend’s entree! UGH.Unfortunately, the one star rating comes on behalf of my friend who clearly got food poisoning from the salad greens since she ordered her burger on a bed of greens. She is super fit and she went into classic food poisoning distress by 2 AM. and was able to clear the entire feeling yuck episode in 18 hours after much retching. We are both doing intermittent fasting, eating one meal a day, and she chose the burger on greens, and not a bun, so we know the greens were the culprit, since I had a burger on a bun…Upon entering restaurant to pick up our online order, which was totally wrong and had to be REDONE, for a 15 minute added wait, we were there long enough to see that this restaurant was clearly understaffed, ~ and that makes for easy accidental slip of careful hygiene protocols. I hope that management takes seriously to make sure greens are not contaminated. It only takes ONE PERSON to accidentally contaminate greens, and this was absolutely likely in a hurried environment. And then perhaps wash that person did wash their hands, or use fresh gloves, and not contaminate anymore greens, so I do not buy that the “no one else complained” from management. But given that this review was responded to, I expect they will be more careful, and the burger I had was tasty!

Best burger in Walnut creek that I have found ss well as a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere.
