Sakimoto is located in downtown Walnut Creek. More specifically, it is right next to Macy’s. There is a parking garage nearby so no worrying about parking lot. This spot was recommended by a friend. She said she has been wanting to try it but haven’t had the chance so we checked it out.The ambiance is beautiful. The ceiling has floral decorations that looks to be of Cherry Blossoms. It says the place is a sushi lounge but looks like a restaurant instead but still I enjoyed the atmosphere. When I checked in I marked “casual” because people were dressed casual. It can be formal, it is an upscale restaurant. When eating out I always look for three things: taste, presentation, and service. The food was great and definitely picture worthy. We ordered the 23 Spicy Salmon with shrimp tempura wrapped with yellowtail, kale crunch and pistachio, coconut flakes…I love a sushi with a crunch. The dessert we ordered which there was no name. Sweet gelato: there was lavender ice cream with honey and pistachio sprinkles and Macha, it came with cotton candy tree. It has an acquired taste but you really have to eat the dessert with all it toppings together to catch the taste. I wasn’t a fan of veggie gyoza but I loved loved the garlic Brussels sprouts. The A5 Wagyu was delicious! Literally melted in my mouth! It had a Smokey taste to it.Price: it was a bit pricy for the amount of food you get but this is in an upscale area. So it’s to be expected.Service: Our server Ricky was awesome. He was friendly and attentive. They were really busy when we got there but loved that we were seated right away! Thank you!
Swanky place for Japanese food, traditional & fusions. A bit pricey but well worth it, I guess. Nice huge projections on 2 walls and staff were nice and attentive. Can get a bit noisy on busy days.
This building has been many different style restaurants. The old Crosby restaurant high style great food, can't remember name of second one but it was also a great restaurant. Now Japanese and sushi. Delicious, fresh, lots of variety. Had a margarita with elderberry?. Service was great, very attentive. Beautifully decorated. Nothing bad to say. Hope they are successful.
I wanted to celebrate my birthday in a nice sushi place with good food. After seeing the picture of Sakimoto Sushion on their website I was excited to go there. However, reviews about not good food and small portion stopped me to make a reservation. Another sushi restaurant was closed so we ended up going to Sakimoto Sushi. I'm happy we went there because from starters to rolls food was fresh and delicious , good sized portions and quick service.I recommend this place and definitely come back again.
Sushi good, real crab but customer service at bar was not. Guys stood around watching hockey and not attending to us. Not friendly to us and we spent plenty of money there. Different folks get treated differently, ijs
We loved the ambience, the food and the great service
Good location, cool decor. The sushi was just ok. Husband liked his pork ribs though.
Love this new sushi place! Really good and all fresh ingredients. Including fresh crab meat! Tried a bunch of different rolls, crudos, sashimi and appetizers. Some of the group favorites were the 23 and the Buddha roll. Lotus appetizer was really interesting as well. Can’t wait to come back.
Such a lovely space! Really makes me miss Sakura (cherry blossom) season in Japan. This is as close as you can get to enjoying a meal with friends beneath the cherry blossoms in Walnut Creek. The changing digital projection of the cherry blossoms on the walls is reminiscent of the many digital art exhibits that keep popping up. The hanging cherry blossoms are so beautiful! It isn’t just a pretty space though. The food is solid and we loved everything we ordered. The ramen carbonara is vegetarian and so flavorful! It’s a generous portion, and quite rich and creamy, so it’s best shared between 2. The Lobster Roll has a nice aioli to make it have a flavor profile similar to a traditional New England lobster roll, and is beautifully plated. The Broadway Roll is definitely the standout between the two. The shrimp tempura along with the crispy potato bits on top give such a nice texture. You must get the matcha pudding for dessert! Loved the chocolate ganache at the bottom and the dollops of huckleberry are a nice contrast.
It's pretty. That's pretty much it. Bad food. I've never left sushi on my plate in my life. Our entire 8 person party left their whole rolls on their plates.I really wanted to like this place but it totally missed the mark.
