Been here a few times and it’s usually been a good experience. Just a few suggestions…if you say you’ll bring someone’s to go order to the patio when it’s ready please remember. I sat outside thinking it wasn’t ready only to go back in and ask…food had been sitting there and wasn’t warm. With the amount of people working behind the counter and hardly any customers inside…not sure why no one figured the order made a few minutes prior should be taken to the only person in the place who ordered in the last few minutes. We will definitely come back but we liked this location because it was way more efficient as far as time to order to pick up…vs the national extremely slow location in San Marcos.
Unprofessional and nasty place. Employees were cursing and yelling in the kitchen, the person at the register looks like she’d rather be anywhere else. The bathroom smelled like urine, the floor was insanely gross and sticky. Disgusting place, never will I go again
My on-line order was supposed to be ready by the time I got there. There were no pick ups ready on the shelf but I noticed two orders sitting behind the counter. The second person behind the counter seemed to be getting orders ready and brought one out to the pick up shelf then she went into the kitchen and drank her soda. It wasn’t my order. The cashier finally finished taking orders and started to go into the kitchen but I moved in closer to him and he asked if I was there for a pickup. I had been standing there for 10 minutes now. I said yes and he picked up one of the orders that had been sitting behind the counter ? I always ask for extra limes for my fish tacos but this time I was told that “limes are too expensive now so we use lemons”.? By the time I got home, the tacos were cold and didn’t taste good at all. Rubio’s raised the price by 50 cents AND stopped having limes! That’s bad business on not of terrible service.
So in general I actually do like Rubio’s, however I do think they’re slightly overpriced (considering you can go to chipotle and get the same/more food for less) but they do have a great sauce they put on their California bowls here so that’s why I keep coming back. The problem for me is that they’re NEVER consistent at this location. One of the first times I came I ordered 2 bowls and they were literally pretty much empty. I’m not kidding when I say it was like 4 bites of food. I looked at them and asked them to actually fill them and they added probably 4 pieces of lettuce. Honestly I’m just still so bitter about this experience that it’s kind of ruined it for me. But overall the food is tasty if you can get over the fact that your bowl might be empty and the price is a little steep for what it is.
We ordered the trio tacos. 3 different kinds of tacos. The fish on one of the tacos was a little dry and the tortilla was a little cold. It took about 15 minutes for the order to come out and it wasn't very busy. I'm not sure if people were on break but it took a while. Cashier was friendly though.
This location is a hit or miss for me. Unfortunately the oceanside location burned down.. I love Rubio's collectivity. Their food is great. I honestly have never eaten the steak or chicken I only get fish or shrimp. Their veggies are always fresh. Most times the food is pretty perfect. It takes longer than most "fast food" to get your order so order ahead if you can. I took a star off because at times the food isn't perfect where its missing something or you get like a tiny bit of cabbage instead of the usual.
Website clearly states 7.99 everyday menu....when we tried to order in the store...they said they did not offer that special...
The quality of food has dropped so much at this location. I keep giving them the benefit of the doubt because I used to love this place. My last order was a California bowl and it looked more like a bowl of sticky rice with some black beans when I had order pinto beans. The meat was dry and it seems like it was pre-heated. Extremely disappointed, not ever going back.
I've been going to this location for a long time. My last three visits have been very disappointing. The food is cold most of the time or incorrectly done. This was my last visit to this location. For the price I pay here I expect better quality food. I don't recommend this location to anyone, don't waste your money.
Ordered food online, drove to the restaurant, and then waited another 40 minutes to get my order. Multiple people came in, ordered their food and left in that time. They were sending out about an order every 5 to 10 minutes. The cashier was nice, but the manager was mad when I asked for a refund. I never had any issues at the other location I go to, but I don't think I'll be going back any more.
