The food was delicious (I got an acai bowl and my parents a bagel breakfast sandwich) coffee was hot and tasty, and my family and I appreciated the kind atmosphere. We took advantage of the large table on the North facing side (I think North), of the cafe and decorated my graduation cap. During this time we saw groups of motorcyclists pass by, and beautiful classic cars (it was a Saturday).
You know when you ask a restaurant not to serve you a certain topping, and you make sure of it so you kindly ask them two other times to make sure they don’t add it. Well these people STILL added the toppings I asked not too. I know it’s silly, but I kindly asked three times to make sure they would not add it. Also ordered an açaí bowl which took 30 minutes additional wait since the “açaí” was not defrosted. The açaí bowl was pretty good.
While this place is close to my home-- I've come home to realize this is the third time they've gotten my acai order wrong in three attempts. They either dgaf or aren't paying attention, but I won't be returning to find out which it is. There's better coffee acai bowl combination shops less than a mile from this one.
Too often have I returned home with my "coffee to go" only to find the coffee tepid, barely warm, and watered-down to where I don't recognize it as coffee. By 0900 hrs the coffee dispensers are near empty, the sugar almost in need of refilling, and the cream dispenser bone dry. THAT is NOT service. And for nearly $3 for a cup of large, watered-down coffee,! That is a ^%$#&* and a *()^%$#@$ way of making a profit. It's back to McDonald's for a guaranteed good, hot, cup of coffee.
Good place to grab a $1 cup of coffee, oatmeal and yogurt topped with half a banana and granola if you need to take a 15 minute or 30 minute lunch break from work
I had a yummy breakfast sandwich and an iced blended coffee drink which really hit the spot. Speaking of spot - this is a large, stand-alone coffee shop in a million dollar location a block from the beach. It attracts locals and tourists alike. The counter is friendly and quick. The prices are reasonable. There has always been plenty of room when I visit. The food is made after you order and has always been fresh.
Okay I’ve tried all the cafes in Ventura this past week and Sandbox is my new favorite. No, not the greatest coffee, but really not bad at all. Zero pretentiousness. The kindest baristas, reasonably priced drinks and food, and the best ambiance plus plenty of seating options. Super close to the beach and exactly what I hoped for in a local cafe.
The coffee is good and the staff are wonderful but THE OWNER STEALS HIS WORKERS TIPS and had the audacity to also remove the tipping option from electronic transactions. No pay increase, just cut off the employees main source of gratuity. I will not be returning specifically for that reason.
Great little coffee shop near the beach. Got my bagel and coffee and went few blocks to aquatic park beach to enjoy breakfast watching the surfers
This coffee shop is very special to me. It's such a cozy place to meet friends and family to have some drinks and delicious treats. Love this place so much. It's not a very big establishment but they have several different seating spots. A nice quiet place with a calm and warm vibe. I highly recommend this coffee shop to everyone.
