amazing tasting food and fresh food
I have mixed feeling about writing this review, but it is deserved. The food here is good, however, their attitude toward "to go" orders is unacceptable. I highly recommend you place your "to-go" order with Lucky Thai Restaurant on Seaward Ventura instead. The food is just as good and they actually would like the business. Main problem with Rice By Mama is they use a service where you can place your order on-line, pay, and pick it up. However, apparently they are too cheap to want to pay the fee this service charges most of the time. So they usually have it blocked and inactive. Of course you won't realize this until you went to the trouble to enter the complete order and they try to pay for it. Only then do you get a notice that they restaurant is not currently accepting such orders. Then if you try and call to place your order, they often won't answer or have the phone off the hook. I tolerated their crap for several months until I had enough. After trying other Thai restaurants, I found Lucky Thai Restaurant the best replacement with food just as good as Rice By Mama.
I love that they opened another location and it’s so convenient to order takeout. My most recent favorite is the sweet and sour chicken. It is very light and a seemingly healthy option. Also love yellow curry and pineapple curry!
I ordered the yellow curry, medium, with red rice. The curry is delicious, it's my favorite yellow curry to date. The sauce/soup/liquid part of the curry base is rich and creamy. I'm a fan of spicy and this was perfect for me. It would be too spicy for someone with a low spice tolerance.Also ordered at the table was crab fried rice, pad Thai, and spicy fried rice. The spicy rice was also a medium and was pretty mild but still delicious.The restaurant is clean, they have indoor and outdoor seating, and staff is attentive (filling water, checking in).Added bonus is that the menu is clearly labeled for allergens and offers a large variety of gluten free items.Portions are also generous, everyone at my table had enough leftovers for an additional meal.
Great service and the food was really good the mamas ramen there is the best with that coconut broth.. best ramen place ive tasted so far
We love this place soooooo much! Eaten here twice the last few nights. Crab fried rice is amazing ?
My first time here, I only ordered soupI just thought it was extremely expensive and just wasn't impressed.Just my opinion.
So many vegan options, everything by mama is delicious, staff is friendly, the menu is extensive with choices, large portions, LOVE this place! Get the Kao Soi if it's on the specials menu Bec it's amazing! No need to add spice because the curry already has enough kick.
One of the best rice and curry in thai food.
Delicious mango and sticky rice. The Thai chicken fried rice is highly recommended. Pick the tofu appetizer.
