Great place! I ordered the eggs creole which were fantastic and very filling with the potatoes au gratin. The potatoes were good but not great, could’ve been more crispy on top with perhaps some melted cheese. Eggs creole were eggs Benedict but instead of ham they used a crab cake with shrimp and were crispy deliciousness. It’s served with diced tomatoes that say they’re spicy on the menu but really aren’t. I also ordered the beignets which were super sugary but so worth it. I recommend the maple bacon ones over the regular beignets. The server offered to split the beignets half bacon half regular which I thought was very kind. The atmosphere there is also nice even though it’s undergoing renovations. I will certainly be back to try the banana bacon pancakes!
One of my favorite places that I would definitely recommend to the people who are visiting Ventura. We always have a pleasant experience with friendly staff with prompt services. My kids (and I, of course!) love their blueberry pancakes, and my favorite is their varieties of breakfast omelets!! Thank you for keeping this restaurant open!!
Everything here was fantastic. Particularly, the omelets are some of the very best I've had!The atmosphere is friendly and relaxing. It's always a bustling place, but wait times weren't too long for walk-ups.I highly recommend this location for a strong start to a day!
We were in Ventura and we were hungry. My guy friend suggested trying someplace new, Cafe Nouveau. How have I missed it all this time?? I loved everything about it!! The Bohemian aesthetic was awesome, the building was wonderful with all the different rooms and hidey-holes. The service was incomparable, attentive without being intrusive. And the food..... I had the Vegetable Pesto Frittata and, oh boy, was I a happy woman!! Colorful, perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented ? Comes with a blueberry corn muffin that you don't want to miss too!
Breakfast was excellent! Lots to choose from and very versed and attentive servers. If you are a robust dark coffee drinker with breakfast, order a different beverage as the coffee is a bit mild. Breakfast is a bit pricey, but very good.
I have rarely been to a restaurant where the server immediately gets it about making the tea really hot while it steeps and has a method to do it! Jason was very thoughtful, friendly, and helpful. The Elvis French toast (not called that, but that’s what it is, was sublime). My husband loved his omelette with bacon, jack cheese, a side of sausage and hash browns. The garden was lovely and peaceful. We gotta go here again!
So, i guess i never reviewed this place. First off, we are long time residents of Ventura, and ive been coming here since they opened. If i had reviewed it 5 years ago, it would have received 5 stars, undoubtedly. Went there today, and even though the food was great, service was a bit shoddy. i understand the pandemic has changed things, and the service wasn't horrible, but we did have to ask a couple times for some basic things (like silverware - i like my silverware BEFORE my food arrives, syrup, water). They still got 4 stars, and i will give them a chance to get that 5th star back. Most everything there tastes great.
We had a good feeling about the place as we drove past and just went in for dinner.Food here is very good, especially the risotto (good for 2 persons). The risotto is one of the best, full of fresh seafood and a savoury delight to have in the chilly weather.Will def come back for brunch!
Top of the list for me and my family! The menu list includes breakfast, lunch & dinner!!! Everything was beyond delicious! The service was amazing! We were served by Victor G. by far thee best server EVER! He made us feel special!
