1st timer. Local. Sunday afternoon at 3:30pm - the harbor is packed. Can take a while to find a parking spot. Grab the first one you see. I gave 4 stars because the servers seemed stressed and other customers were complaining about service. We had GREAT customer service. Be ready to order when they come to you. The sandwiches were Delicious! Try the tomato bisque and Mac n cheese (made with shells) super yummy sides with the sandwich. Ended up taking half sandwich and half soup home for lunch tomorrow. Lots of outside seating. Live band playing not too far away. Full bar for drinks and the menu also has the Copa Cubana menu - I guess the two restaurants are merged together. Great view of the harbor. Seating is first come. If you have a larger group, could be difficult or a long time to be seated. Definitely would come back.
The restaurant is in a picturesque setting along Ventura Harbor. We decided to stop in for a late lunch. We asked for water for ourselves and our dogs, then we ordered drinks and an appetizer while we decided what to have for lunch. They brought our dogs water. It took about 30 minutes to get our drinks and the appetizer. Our water still hadn't arrived. We finally placed our order for lunch. We finally got our water. We waited another 30 to 45 minutes for our food. I had a house salad and asked for balsamic vinaigrette and received strawberry vinaigrette. I usual like Tabasco with my clam chowder but it had taken so long to get our drinks, water and food I didn't want to wait for the server to come back. Fortunately I had a couple of packets of Tabasco in my purse from another restaurant. My daughter's ordered another round of margaritas which took another 40 minutes to arrive. They were watered down and mostly ice. My daughter's were disappointed. The restaurant was initially busy, however as we sat there the restaurant completely cleared out of patrons and new customers slowly arrived. Needless to say we won't be returning to this restaurant.
We visited here on Father's day for a quick bite before a walk on the harbor. The place was packed... that's usually a good thing not in our case. Very under staffed and not prepared for the amount of people that were here. Waited for 15 min on drinks then another 30 to order food. When our food finally started to come out it came out at different times (not all at once) so my oldest wound up eating first so the food didn't get cold. Great food! Extremely understaffed or lack of training.
I ordered a Mac and cheese and fries Theres about 10 people here and I just got my food 47 minutes later I got my food and it was pretty good, then I asked for a check, and just wanted to get out of there, then about 15 minutes later I got the check and it was 14 bucks so I left a 20 because I didn’t know how long it would take to get my money back so I left a tip which wasn’t deserved at all. If your in a hurry or have less then a hour and 15 minutes then this is not the restaurant for you
Best grilled cheese on multigrain paired with a wonderful thick tomato soup!!
Our Petanque group (French version of Bocce Ball) went to 805 for Happy Hour after our game today. We ordered the empanadas, Lechon with rice/red beans, Special grilled cheese with mac/cheese, with wine, beer and a special cocktail. We were outside and the service was excellent, our waitress was so helpful, courteous and a delight. She had to explain some of the Cuban items on the menu. The food was brought out in a timely manner, was delicious and the drinks we perfect. We all enjoyed this special time, special food and special prices!! The ambiance is delightful - by the boats with tourists enjoying the specialness of Ventura Harbor! We look forward to coming back the next time. Our group go to Happy Hour after our game and have been exploring our harbor restaurants for fun venues with good food and drinks!!
Black rice and beans portion dry and small flavor average. Clam chowder a bit above average. Waitress should have kept her mask on for several reasons
Went for lunch on a Friday. There is a host stand and we waited at it for a while. When no one showed up we wandered and picked a table. A waitress showed up with menus and took our drink order. When she brought the drinks we gave her our order - a Cuban Reuben with fries and a side of Mac & cheese. She asked if we were splitting and we told her yes. Ten minutes later she came back and asked what we had ordered. She said ok and left. She returned with our food. They had split the sandwich and fries onto separate plates for us. The sandwich was a tasty, the fries were crisp without being overdone but the Mac & cheese was mediocre at best. The waitress never returned to our table... Not to check if the food was ok, if we need drink refills or even to drop off the check. We waited and waited but no one showed up. After about twenty minutes of looking for the waitress my husband went to the bar to pay for the meal. The patio is nice to sit on to enjoy the view but the restaurant needs to do a bit more housekeeping. The chairs, tables and railings had bird droppings all over them. Not a few hours worth but days.
SICKENING experience! ...................The owner & cook ( Andrea) couldn't simply serve our meal & drinks. Instead he felt compelled to talk our ears off about his new business venture involving his homeland Cuba! ... I came here with intentions to enjoy the company of my date including food and drinks ...... not to be schooled about the commonalities between Cuba and the U.S.A
Live music and tasty cubanos make for a good night out.
