This place was an unexpected surprise.First the positives. The staff is friendly and the service is excellent. The steak was superbly prepared and the cheese bread is delicious.I highly recommend the side salad which is an additional $2.99. It consists of mixed greens, cheese and amazing homemade croutons.Their turkey club sandwich is also superb. The turkey is thinly sliced and flavorful. The Monte Cristo sandwich is also delicious. As good as their steak and sandwiches are, their pot pie is not an actual pie. The pie consists of thick gravy that tasted like flour and chicken that was too chewy. This was topped by a pie crust that was over baked and tasted burned. The fried fish was abundant but the batter wasn't very good. The seasoning added an odd flavor to the fish.Their prices were also recently raised. In the case of the steak, it rose from $15 and some cents to $19 and some cents. The approximate 25% increase undermines the value of ordering the steak. Also their desserts are beautiful but over-priced and the graham crusts used in some of their pies is too greasy. Their cookies are also not flavorful and taste more like shortening than butter.Despite the increase in prices of some items and items I would not recommend, their menu is extensive and offers other good items. I rated them 4-stars because some of their food is quite good but not 5-stars because some of the food isn't that good and because the substantial increase of prices on some items.
Reason for visiting: brunch after my nephew's baseball gameDate/time of visit: Saturday morning, ~10:00 AMParking: in the adjacent lot; freeParty size: 6 (3 kids)Environment/ambience: mixed crowd, age and people wise ?. No TVs around; not too loud or crowded inside.Service: was great! She came around often and was pretty friendly.Food: I didn't eat but the food looked good. Had an orange juice and it was ok. The onion rings were probably the best (from the club sandwich combo). Others had the steak and eggs and philly cheese steak combo with fries; both looked good.Cost: didn't pay but it was around ~$80; they also include a service charge, FYI
My waiter was amazing, good looking, funny, and professional. Made my delicious meal even better.
Great place to enjoy good food at awesome prices. This is a bit like an old school countey cafe with prices that have not caught up with inflation yet. The portions are good and food is tasty.
Great value. Really tasty fresh food. I've been coming here for over 20 years. The place is clean. The staff is friendly and cares about their food and clientele. Best kept secret are those crazy pies. Take one home with you. They are really good. Sadly, the lemon Meringue is almost always sold out when I go. But really maybe that's for the best. Lol
Pretty good but they just need to make sure the food is hot NOT warm.Service could be so much better if they could remember what they are suppose to bring you ....refills, napkins etc. We do like this place, would make the drive if the food was hot when they brought it to us, coffee hot etc.
Staff is friendly. Quick service. Good variety on the menu. Especially, breakfast, my favorite meal. Reasonable prics.
Not the same anymore. Waiter was awesome tho
Ordered the biscuits and gravy, came out super fast . One bite and I had to spit it out, the biscuits were too dry and extremely hard, the gravy was sour. Ordered some strawberry banana pancakes. They were really gritty and just had some banana and strawberries slapped on top. Table and chairs were dirty , walls and decor was super old , dirty and grundy. Took forever to get my bill, would not recommend goin here .
I always love coming here after church on Sunday's. It brings a great variety of foods ranging from breakfast, lunch, and dinner with very affordable prices. The staff there are amazing and very friendly. And finally, just walking in is like a blast from the past with the décor bringing in a good old-timey feel.
