The lady makes very good fish and chips keep up the great work!
Do yourself a favor and do not eat here. Here are a few of the reasons why we are not going back:I can pretty much say that the actual fish was “missing” on the 3 piece fish and chips combo. There was so much, and I mean, SO much breading that I ended up peeling off the crust and ate whatever trace of fish I could find; The sample plater was not any better. The shrimp was ok, oysters had a very salty taste, as in not properly cleaned. The scallops… well, look at the pic.Even the ketchup was off. It was kept in the fridge for who knows how long and when it was brought out, it was sticky like a fruit preserve.Lastly, for the 3 pieces of fish chips plus and the seafood platter, we were give 3 vinegar packets. When we asked for more, the lady pointed at the menu to let us know they charge $0.20 PER packet!
Ordered fish and scallops combo and potstickers. I was really happy with the fish and scallops. The staff was friendly, too. Fries and coctail sauce weren't great. I realized after taking a couple bites of fish that's the only thing that was missing was a squeeze of fresh lemon. I asked at the counter and was told they don't have any fresh lemons. This was a disappointment because it's a bad sign about their sauces (how do they make tartar sauce without lemons?) and what do you mean your business is fish and chips but you don't have ANY lemons?I'll still come back for the fish, I'll just bring my own lemon slices next time ?
This place used to be yummy. It used to be a nice, casual, yummy place to eat. This last time I went (a few days ago), was my last time here. The fried “calamari” and fried “fish” was nothing but layer upon layer of tempura. It cost just under $30 before tip for two small orders (with fries we didn’t touch) just to eat some fried tempura. I sh you not, it was the size of the tip of your pinky (of calamari) and came out the size of a whole pinky finger of tempura. The fish was paper thin and dunked in tempura many times so it looked fat. $30 for tempura and grease. Really. Honestly. I won’t talk about what crawled across the counter in front of us out of respect. But I’m going to Sharky’s next time I want good fried seafood (and great personalities).
Nothing compares to H Salt Fish and Chips. My husband and I had an H Salt Fish shop in SF. It is traditional English style.
Nice fish and chips hole in the wall. Fish was good and crunchy, but the fries seemed as though they were from thee bottom of the barrel, with brown spots and ends mostly. Cole slaw was right on flavor wise.
Greasy and too much breading. Reminded me of Long John Silver's which I wouldn't recommend.
Great fish and chips. Deep fried mushrooms are fantastic!!
Yes, you should try Tugboat. Their fish and chips are very good, and I'm a fish-and-chip snob--I've actually eaten the dish in England and Scotland. This is a mom and pop place, and you can peer into the kitchen and see them preparing the fish. Their cole slaw had a good balance of acidity and sweet, and I'm a coleslaw snob too! Their pricing is a good value. I got the 3-piece fish and chips, and a side of cole slaw for $11.61. (I didn't order a drink.) The 2-piece would have been enough; I saved a piece of fish for lunch the next day; the pieces are large. I would have given them 5 stars if the place were cleaner. Not that it was dirty; it was clean enough, but if they gave it a detailed cleaning, it would be stellar. I'll be back, and I'll bring the family. By the way, the place is close to Costco; I'm just saying.
I haven't been here in years. I ordered the 2 piece fish. One piece had fish in it that I could see. the other piece, well not sure what happened but you could not visibly see fish. It was little fish shaving surrounded by the batter. I guess in a sense fish flavored cooked batter, in a long shape.
