The food is all made from scratch. The menu riffs off of classic dishes like bouillabaisse and braised pork shoulder. The Spaetzle was perfect.

Great location downtown and great food. Menu is not large and choices are unique. Good taste, amazing ingredients and fresh. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and salmon bowl!! Beautiful Patio to sit outside during spring and summer.
It's a small place in downtown Vacaville. Very busy and popular. The very petite selection and very delicious. The prices I suppose was high to make the profits. The service was great, very high class. It had a clean restroom and a nice tiny bar.

I met a friend here for lunch today, and was really looking forward to trying it out. The menu looked great. Unfortunately I ordered the beet salad, listed as a lunch item. I wish I had taken a picture, as I cannot begin to describe how small this salad was - I don’t think I’ve ever even had a side salad this small. There were eight small cubes of beet, a few small dollops of cheese mousse, two paper thin slices of apple and a few leaves of arugula. Needless to say….I left extremely hungry. When I asked if I could get some bread, they brought me two thin strips (1” x 3”) of what I believe came off a brioche bun - toasted. I looked around to see if anyone else ordered one of their salads, but all that I saw were hamburgers and sandwiches. I guess they all were on notice not to order a salad here.
Great place!We love this place and visited their prior location. The new place is much nicer. The food is always great and the wine list is interesting with good exclamation from the wine server.
Review is for a party of eight on a Wednesday night for dinner. First off, the server was excellent, engaging and informative. The hors d'oeuvres we're excellent. Since we had a big party we tried a lot of what was offered on the menu. Nothing was subpar. All in the party loved everything especially the brussel sprouts. Such amazing taste! Same was true for each one of the entrees ordered. All were excellent! Additionally the wine selection was wonderful. There was not an unsatisfied dinner party member amongst us. We all agreed we were coming back soon. Highly recommended!
Really fantastic food and drink selection.
We lunched on a weekday and it was fantastic. The outdoor patio is wonderful.Our sandwiches, fried Brussel sprouts and quinoa salmon salad were delicious and nicely prepared. A couple dishes reminded me of NYC’s Momofuku or San Anselm’s Cucina. Menu had a great selection of fresh local ingredients. Great location and very attentive wait staffs. A couple of staffs were often circling tables to make sure anybody’s drinking glasses were refilled.If you’re in Vacaville and looking for delicious meal reflecting a good selection of local ingredients with a good recipes, this place might be the one. I wonder if Backdoor bistro might be the best restaurant in Vacaville downtown especially for the folks who enjoys nicer ambience, casual yet creative dishes you might find them often in Napa & Sonoma.The indoor space looks very spacious and airy. We really enjoyed the outdoor seating and it had enough shade where we dined.There were a plenty public parking spaces near by the plaza.Can’t wait to return when we are in Vacaville.
