not very fresh. the meat is greasy, and the yogurt sauce is marginal, not real Taziki. it was so loud inside, that we had to sit outside in the heat.
Since the lines in NYC are so long, I thought I'd try eating at one of their SoCal locations to see what the fuss is all about. The food is definitely good, but I feel it could be hit or miss. There's flavour, but the texture in the chicken was a touch dry and honestly, while nice, I've now tried it and I haven't had a "craving" for it again since. If you're a big meat eater, this is your paradise, for sure. The service in this Tustin location was good, and the restaurant was clean and staff were friendly. It definitely filled the spot when looking for a nice, warm, non offensive meal, and again, something I think you've got to try once, to see what all of the popularity is about.
This location is fantastic! Every time I come here, the food is yummy, the service is quick and friendly, and the portions are sizable.Today they went above and beyond when I ordered for pickup and didn't notice that it was for the wrong location. Instead of having me drive to the other restaurant, they went out of their way to offer to help take care of it for me (and were gracious about it too).Their manager, Troi, was especially great and resolved the situation quickly and professionally. That really made me feel like a valued customer and that they wanted to do what they could, even though it was my mistake.
The food is disgusting. I got a small chicken/beef plate and it was extremely dry. The white sauce tasted like a mix of sour cream and something else. The hummus and pita chips had no flavor. The cheesecake had undercooked phyllo dough. Definitely my 1st and last time trying Halal Guys
Fast service. Food and drink are very good! Portion is big!
Worst experience again ?. Thay are happy to charge the whole amount but the amount of food is half now means they don't know what's the actual amount of food they have to serve to the customer ?. It happened twice in a row, no more this location. It's better to go on the one on Bristol St in Costa Mesa, Orange. They give you right amount of food and better customer service ?
I visited Halal guys to see what is all hype about. I was not impress at all. I would most definitely give 0 star if there was an option. I would rate overall food quality as super low and cheap. Ironic is a high price tag on it.I ordered spicy chicken bowl. It did not had any taste. Rice was cold and even chicken did not had any flavors. I do not know why it was named “spicy” chicken. Please do yourself a favor and save your time and money.
The best gyro I've had in Orange County, heads up the hot sauce is actually really hot, don't get crazy.
Food is ehhh. The service good. We tried falafel and was awful. The tahini sauce is awful. The falafel itself is awful. The chicken sandwich is just chicken with thick bread and onion and lettuce and tomatoes… really? All other places has multiple toppings. Will not be back
Good intentions, bad execution. The idea is to provide a fast food version of Middle Eastern/eastern mediterranean staples to the public. But several things, including the (low) quality of the ingredients makes it crash. First off though, if you call yourself Halal Guys, why then refer to it as Gyros (the workers pronounced it Jay-ros!)? Why not shwarma? No matter: problem 1- the workers don’t know how to make this food. The way the food is served is obvious that they are thinking of it as non-spicy Mexican food. So, the manner of making it, requiring a certain finesse and order, is given up which takes away from the experience. But, problem 2- TOO many corners are cut. The chicken is dry and tasteless. The beef (premade shwarma stacks) tastes industrial. I did not have falafel, so I don’t know. But bread is terrible too, not the right bread for the food at all. Then, there is a sauce, referred to as “the white sauce” (!) which is the wrong sauce really. This needs a tahini-garlic sauce. Instead, you get a non-descript mayonnaise based sauce, and asked if you want suspiciously “pico de gallo” looking tomatoes and jalapeños on it (!). Saying no means you get some bad bread with dried out chicken on it, for a whole lot of money.I did not try the Hommus. But the baba ghanoush was the only thing that wasn’t bad (of course I could not quite get why it had bell peppers in it?).Overall, instead of this, of you don’t care about the Halal part, just go to a good taco shop and ask for a non-spicy chicken taco!!
