I've been here a few times and the drinks are always good. They go above and beyond to make their signature cocktails look attractive, but they also are strong and taste delicious. However, the food is not the greatest, especially for the price. I have sent something back before and now when I go I usually skip the food. However, they have weeknight events which sound very fun, and the staff is always great.
The Black Marlin is one of our favorite spots, been going for years, for fun and special occasions. The food is amazing and has been worth the price. Haven't left hungry either the portions will definitely fill you up. The staff has always been nice and attentive. Love the back patio with music on Sundays. Would recommend the Marlin for drinks, food, and fun.
Came on a Friday early evening (5 pm) and the place was pretty empty so no wait to be seated. FYI- it a pretty casual atmosphere; like a casual bar ambiance.Had the following:- Fish Chowder 8/10pretty good, highly recommend add Tabasco- Ginny Hendrix (Cocktail Drink) - 5/10a strong drink but really lacking in flavor- 4 cheese Mac & cheese side - 7/10Standard Mac & cheese but if you like cheese pasta this is for you regardless- Neptune's Cobb Salad - 8/10Generous size! Only downside was I was expecting lumps of crab not shredded so it was hard to fork with the lettuce.- Seared Scallops w/ sides - 7/10Presentation was fantastic for this item but the scallops were lacking in flavor. Would have liked to have had a more substantial sauce.Overall, the experience was pretty good, just had a few bumps...- came in with a party of 2 and were sat at an awkwardly placed table. We asked if we can move to the table next to us meant for 4 people but our waitress said it's only for parties greater than 2... which I get but at the same time, there was no one else in the restaurant except for 1 other couple on the other side of the room. Just seemed a bit off.- Service was very slow. We did have to wait for our waters to be refilled a few times. Again not a big deal but just a bit off putting considering how empty the place was.Overall I'd give the food a 8/10 but service a 6/10
It's like one of those places where families gather together for a good meal. Everything here taste great, especially the Clam Chowder. You got to try the $1 Oyster Mondays, nothing beats this deal.Outside tables are available, both front and back areas. If you are comfortable staying inside, there's a bar as well as tables. They also offer takeout although there's no curbside pickup. There's ample parking, major credit cards accepted. Highly recommended if you like seafood!!
We went to celebrate a birthday-all adults (not really the best spot for kids.) it was a Thursday night and fully booked. We didn’t have a reservation so we sat on the back patio. At first it was chilly, but after turning on the large heaters it was fine. All of the food was simply delicious and very well prepared. It is on the pricey side-at least for us-but what you get is first class. I had braised short ribs which were yummy. The birthday boy had the swordfish which he thoroughly enjoyed. My sis in law-a vegan-chose from the various a la carte vegetables and found them all very tasty. We had desserts which were also very good.
Had lunch today and they were very accommodating to let us order off the dinner menu. Food was so good! Our server Ana was awesome and took great care of us! Thank you for making us feel welcome and for the wonderful food and service! We will ask for Ana every time!!
overall great food! try the jambalaya! yummy
Great food Great service will definitely be back.
I'll start with the not so good. The apple juice for the kids was really watered down. Had to order something else for them. Never had watered down apple juice...not good. The service was a bit slow, but like to think it was a COVID thing. Now, the good, I ordered the scallop plate and I have to say they were the biggest and best scallops I've ever had. My wife also liked her shrimp and pasta plate. It was a little expensive but the presentation was very nice, the amount of food was really good also. I would definitely go back and just stay away from the apple juice for the kids.
I live in Orange and was unfamiliar with this place until I saw a random YouTube video taken outside of it. I genuinely thought that we'd try it until the manager confronted the videographer. The manager was only interested in getting the person to stop and in a very 'entitled' manner. No thanks, marlin.
