When we signed into the wait list the initial wait time was about 60-80 minutes. We ended up waiting almost 2 hours to be seated. Staff was friendly and polite, food was great and we didn't have to wait too long for food onces we ordered. Recommend trying the fresh oysters. $8.50 for 3 oysters and they were big oysters too. Would have given 5 stars if the wait time to be seated was accurate.
If you want to eat authentic Japanese foods, try to go Honda-ya.You can feel what the Japanese food is in here.5 kind mixed Sashimi & Sashimi bawl were good. However, Shoyu ramen was really salty.
Great experience when not waiting in line especially on Fridays and Saturdays. A must go to for Japanese cuisine.
Honda-ya does Yakitori really, really well. The staff are amazing, especially Leo, the host is always super caring and kindhearted to my elderly parents who are regulars. The atmosphere is VERY Japanese, lively, and always crowded, so expect a wait. On a recent early Saturday evening visit both my mother and I were surprised to find that the rice was sub-par and not fresh tasting. Otherwise, it would be a five star review!
Having been born and lived in japan for 10 years, this place reminds me of food I had back home.Very authentic, and the food is incredible. I can't get enough of the yakitori and usually spend $100+ here because it's SO good.Love the atmosphere here too, and customer service is great. It can get pretty busy at times so expect a wait, but its totally worth it. You don't want to miss out on this food.
This restaurant opened at 5pm and a large gathering of loyal customers waited out in the cold drizzling weather to get their names on the list to get a table before it opened! Hostess took our temperatures and offered sanitizer before taking us to our table. Honda-Ya was highly recommended by a family member.. reminded him of one of his favorite restaurant while living in Japan. We ordered so many skewers .. delicious cheek, beef, eggplant, meatballs, asparagus/bacon, salad, fries, octopus.. a variety for the five of us. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive! Worth the trip to Tustin!
Worth the wait. A great izakaya style restaurant in oc. Friends brought me here and it was so good. Tons of options and something for everyone. The garlic pork belly really stood out. The prices and service was great. Definitely a good place to go with friends.
This place is bomb. Don't forget to try the sautéed clams, the rolls are excellent. Try some skewers and the avocado tempura. There is no way you can go wrong in this place, everything is delicious. The service is impressively fast and the servers are super nice and friendly.
Had a really lovely date with my husband here! We had a ton of food and the quality of food we had was SUCH a great value. We have already planned what we want to order next time we visit! 10/10? Must try. We loved sitting at the bar and watched the chefs cook.
Great food. Didn't order anything I didn't like, except the baked scallop. service can be a little better.
