The food is still tasty and of high quality after all these years. Great new tables! I hate the point-of-sale machine. It's one of those that displays its own logo bigger than the numbers and instructions.
The food is great but the online orders constantly take to long. Been to this location multiple times and the take out always takes long there is a lack of attention in this area recommend coming in to get your food.Update: and the icing on the cake was my food was actually incorrect I got someone else’s food even though my name was on on receipt!
I’m giving 4 stars instead of 3 because I’m hoping my experience today was just because the restaurant seems understaffed, and some of the staff there seem new. The food was ok, may have been better if some of it wasn’t so cold by the time it was eaten. I submitted a large order the night before through the website. (6 entrees, 2 appetizers, 1 dessert, some extra sides, extra sauces, 1 drink). Arrived at pickup time, about 1.5 hours after opening, during lunch, and the staff was a little busy. Received the bag for my order, immediately noticed it was only about half my order (4 entrees, 1 set of extra sides, everything else missing). Finally got a staff to notice us standing there to ask about the rest. They had to go prepare it. Brought my bag back, I went through it again . I noticed it was still missing both appetizers, the extra sauces, and the dessert. Got staff attention again, they went to prepare the rest. The restaurant was noticeably busier, especially the pickup line. By this time, we’d been in the pickup area for half an hour. Grabbed our bags (we had to ask for a second bag because the staff kept filling the first bag and too many items to comfortably hold the handles. Also a bag for the extra sauces because two of the plastic containers were not closed properly and started to leak, and I was afraid they’d do it again). Got to our family gathering, sorted out the food, and realized I was still missing 1 side of beans, 1 of rice, extra tortillas, and the extra tomatillo sauce. These extra added up to less than $10, but still, something is paid for. Also on some entrees had requested no guacamole or sour cream, or put it on the side, yet they were right there on the entrees. Definitely will always double-check orders on pickup, and will only do small orders in the futur from here.
Came in on a Sunday afternoon and the place wasn't too busy. The ordering system is similar to Chipotle where you tell them what to put in your burrito/taco/salad/etc... what confused me is that the guy taking our orders kept going back and forth between all of us instead of focusing on taking our orders one by one. It's inefficient because it took very long (15 mins) to order food for 5 people where it could've easily been a 5 min process.I ordered the sweet pork taco which was great. I liked the tortilla as well. Hubby ordered burrito with the fire-grilled chicken. Nothing special.Overall, I'd come back for the sweet pork.
This has got to be some of the best service I’ve gotten anywhere. The man who helped us was supremely nice and charismatic, made us feel at home. The food is great and worth the price (it will fill you up). Definitely would recommend and wish everywhere had the same kind of service as this restaurant.
Can’t go wrong with Cafe Rio. A solid spot for lunch. I recommend the salad. It is basically a burrito that isn’t wrapped. They are someone short staffed so it can take a little longer to get your food. Just FYI. Still a great lunch spot.
We didn’t get the flour tortillas with our very large order. We called and they said there was nothing they could do for us other than we drive back to get them. We revived the corn and whole wheat tortillas but not the white flour ones which was half our order. We drove 20 minutes there so it didn’t make sense to go back.
Food taste alright. Burrito was a mess. Not rolled at all with half of it on the outside and not given the option for it to be rolled inside the burrito. Anywhere I go has no problem putting lettuce on the inside of a burrito. When I got home to re-roll it most of the meat and beans had spilled out essentially making it a bowl. What's the point of having burrito even listed on the menu.Tasted fine but the presentation and was not good
Found out that Cafe Rio does not have cooks available to prepare food that they run out of. I went to a second location to order steak and they ran out but offered if I wanted to come back in one to two hours they might have it then. Seems like a weird business practice but sadly effects people's dining options that they don't tell people about. But if you want the meats that were prepared early that morning and sat there all day long you are welcome to those
Cafe Rio CHALLENGE: order a Quesadilla with rice and beans without getting charged for the rice and beans that as clearly stated in all the printed menus should come with all menu items, including the quesadilla. Every time I come here it’s a hassle, and needlessly so. Very dumb unwritten rule/ poor business practice.
