We have been here several times; the food and service are always great! My family and I have gone to eat breakfast a lot and I have gone to lunch with my husband here, never a bad experience.
The food is good and they give you very generous portions. Usually have leftovers to take home. Friendly crew. The building could use some deep cleaning, but the tables are kept clean.
This location is the best of all the location I have dined at in my area! Staff very knowledgeable as well as friendly and interactive not just coming to the table to place food and disappear until you catch their eye again. Entire restaurant was clean, including restrooms and I was dining on a Sunday after church let out. They were busy but did not seem stressed out. Food was prepared to perfection and came to our table hot. I recommend this diner overall but if you happen to be in the Turlock area, this is the location to eat at.
Dine here ofter, generally service/food in excellent catagory, although today it seemed things were a little off. Food over cooked, no problem to get replaced, just the extra wait time. Didn't get my senior discount as asked for at register, didn't notice till I reviewed receipt when at home. Visa charge .

Great place to dine-in. The staff were accommodable. I had the "Bigfoot Country Fried Steak and Eggs." Ate half of my food and I was full. With the amount of food you get for the price..can't get any better.
The fruit my granddaughter was eating looked old and when I checked was spoiled and slimy. When I was paying I let the young lady helping out; she said "I'm sorry about that". I said to her was not good to be served to anyone. I wonder is they did something about. This was the Black Bear in Turlock, that was my first time there. I prefer the location in Modesto. I'm aware no place is to be perfect but being aware of the products that are served are usually not hard to spot if they are not good anymore.

They forgot to put in our order by accident so they apologized, and comped us a bowl of chili, 20% off our meal, and gave us 2 free desserts. All for 15 extra minutes of waiting. We weren't even bothered by they insisted. I always love the food because it's very homey, but the service is even better. Also, sufficient GF options.
