One of my favorite places in Turlock. Great food, atmosphere, and service.

I ordereded the French onion soup and the brushetta bistro. Both were super amazing, the soup was full of flavor, nice layer or cheese on top and a chunk of bread on the bottom of the bowl. My husband was like it's very onion tasting and I laughed and reminded him its French onion soup. The brushetta was very tasty, the bread had a nice crunch on the outside and the middle was soft all 3 dips were full of flavor. The pesto dip was on the spicier side but still taste amazing. My husband and I both ordered the ribeye with garlic potatoes and asparagus. The meat was cooked to perfection the potatoes were so soft and you can taste the garlic!! Finally actual garlic potatoes, and the asparagus... I can't even describe the flavor but it was crunchy and tasted so good, I actually would have ordered more. This restaurant is definitely a romantic atmosphere, they even light a little candle at your table. They also have a bar seating for walk ins.The reason for my 4 star and not a 5. My husband is mixed race with a lot of tattoos and when we walked in, he was judged. You could see it all over their faces. He had made reservations but I guess they didn't go through. He was definitely feeling the you don't belong here vibe and I could feel it to. The waitress did ask for a phone number to look up for the reservations while my husband was looking for conformation. I told them the number and they offered us seating at the bar but I let them know my husband has sobriety. They offered the bar again and I let them know we have sobriety and that wasn't going to work. Than 1 of the ladies said we can squeeze them in there but it's reserved an hour/ hour and a half from when we showed and asked if that was time frame was ok for us to eat. I said yes that works and we got seated at the table.

The food was delicious. Was definitely worth the wait. The atmosphere was delightful. Even though we left wile there was almost a full house, the ambience was lively, but reserved. Definitely don't mind what we spent. Especially with the wonderful service.

Birthday dinner gone awry I went online, checked out the menu, and ordered filet with red potatoes and steamed vegetables for $38, to go for my 73rd birthday dinner. When I arrived home, I saw a nice filet, 2 stalks of alleged steamed broccoli AND NO RED POTATOES!! I called the restaurant and asked for the manager. She said, “Oh, we changed the menu.” I said that I ordered according to the online menu. She responded,”well, we didn’t change the online menu.” I said well… No answer and I hung up. I won’t be returning.

Our server was very nice but for such a pricey restaurant I was expecting the food to be way better. I will say that our drinks were delicious.

Went to dinner at the Bistro 234 on June 17th, fir my son’s birthday. Upon checking in i shared with the host that it was a birthday he snapped we don’t do anything birthday here. Not even Happy Birthday. We were seated a finally the waitress took our order. My chicken Marsala was cold, ravioli looked like it came out of a can, had to saw the steak and the Tiger prawns were shrimp. Funny the table next to us knew the chef and he did get tiger prawns. I have left a message with someone to please call me regarding our dining experience. But no call back. Will not be dining at the Bistro again

Great night out. Impressive environment. Great & tasty food. The personal are very professional. Night to remember.

I went here for lunch and had the chicken Gnocchi. It was amazingly creamy & flavorful.

Food and service was goodI plan on going back

TLDR: Subpar service and nothing special about the food. Pick a different place for lunch if you are already in downtown Turlock.Context:Went to celebrate my sister graduating college. We had a party of five.we arrived for lunch and had a reservation for noonish. The restaurant was not busy, though they may have had a party in the backroom.Service: 1/5Slow and largely absent for the majority of the meal. We were seated at 12-ish and we're not able to place our food order until at least 12:30. The sandwiches we ordered took 45-60 minutes to arrive. Normally if the quality is great, that doesn't bug me, but what we received was rather subpar for the price. When we asked for something on the side with the meal (after it was delivered), we never got it. Our waiter did not come to check on us, and stopped by at 1:30/2 to see if we wanted dessert. We asked what the options were and told him we needed a moment to decide. We never saw him again until he dropped off the bill (after we paid) luckily the hostess came by 20 minutes later and was able to take our dessert order, bring the desserts, and find a different waiter to bring out our bill.Food: 2/5All the food options were plain. Like, white people that can't handle seasoning plain. The burger we ordered (there was only 1 on the menu) came with nothing but cheese on it. When we asked, a waiter (not ours) told us the other burger had lots of stuff, but the one we must have ordered comes plain. Again, there was only one burger option on the menu. One of our other people ordered his sandwich with a salad and got fries, the fries I received were room temperature at best and way saltier than everyone else's.Atmosphere: 4/5Pretty restaurant, great location. There really is a lot of potential here to be a great place.
