I have been visiting this place for 10 years now. The reason is the awsome Katsu variety (altough the menu has been slightly changed recently). They have other types of Japanese food too. The pork miso soup is also amazing. Small, friendly place so making reservation helps. Wide variety of sake too. There is a small parking lot in the back.
Kaku fry and loin lunch set was very good— it’s SO much food I didn’t need to eat anything for the rest of the day. All the pickles that come with it are nice and the service is great. Tight parking in the back but didn’t have issues!
Nice izakaya atmosphere. Each table is semi-private. You can eat light or heavy. For proper dinner, I recommend Katsu Gozen (tonkatsu 豚カツ) set. So good!
Service was good but food was below-average and price was above-average. Pictured here are salmon (texture is rubber) and pork fillet katsu (removed breading to show low pork quality), altogether costing $30 plus tax/tip. Fried with oil that wasn’t fresh resulting in weird aftertaste. Fish was likely old as well.
Would give at least a 4.25 if it was an option... Had the premium fillet.. that thing was like butter... The dipping sauce in the plastic solo cup kind of ruins it.. the little side dishes could be nicer and same with the cabbage salad..
Great place for tonkatsu!! Their Taiwanese Mazesoba is also really good and worth a try!
Really good but 4 stars because the price increase $3-7 on almost every dish and no longer serve beef tongue. Also they should have a description for non Japanese versed customers.
Haven't had katsu, REAL pork katsu, in so long, and it was better than expected. My friend got salmon and it was equally great. There was so much food my friends had me finish their side dishes. I'm so full I'm writing this while laying down. I give this place 1 very full stomach up ??
First time at kagura and I had an amazing experience. From the great waiter to the large selection of katsu. If you are craving Japanese cuisine I recommend this restaurant !
Everything tasted good in terms of flavorwise. But tonkatsu was super greasy. I felt like I was drowning myself with a gallon of oil chewing down tonkatsu. I also felt sick afterwards.
