It’s been a while since I visited this place. I came here today and ordered Katsu-don and Zaru combo. Pork meat was hard and no taste although rice is still ok. Zaru had a parchment paper under soba. Probably they want to omit to wash Zaru itself but unnecessary water from soba didn’t go through and soba became so watery. It made dip sauce weaken and didn’t taste nice compare to before. Since taste is not good level and became expensive due to inflation and etc, it is sad but I will probably never come back to this place, although this used to be my favorite location.
Absolutely some of the best cold soba around. No frill restaurant. Staff was helpful.
Came here on Saturday afternoon for the soba noodles with tempura with my family. Love hole-in-the-wall places and understand service is usually an afterthought, but...We felt like we inconvenienced her when we asked for recommendations because she was very snappy and condescending. It felt horrible. The broth was tasty but the soba and the whole experience from the run down place and unnecessary rude service, took away from a nice family experience. So sad cause the tempura was good.
Had the age mochi hot soba which also had wakame and green onions...loved it! Had it for take out and the fried mochi was in one container, the soba/wakame was in another container, and the 3rd container had the broth. So I poured the broth on top of the noodles and laid the crunchy mochi with the chewy center on top. Loved the different textures and was quite filling.
Delicious hole in the wall Japanese spot!! Such a pleasant experience. Cash only- the curry and beef bowl was great, as was the beef hot soba soup. Will be back soon :)
11/22/2021Okay. This is about an hour drive but I had to do it. I've been craving tanuki soba for several weeks. I went down here with my daughter today. There was only one staff member working so the wait was 30 minutes. Others turned away but I could not after driving that long. This is one of the very few places that makes their udon/soba in house. I really love the flavor of the broth. No one can beat this place.I’ve been coming here for years. I love the chewy noodles, whether it’s soba or udon. My favorite is the Tanuki udon. They make their noodles as opposed to purchasing frozen noodles.
Website and google times say they open at 1030am. I have an appointment at 1130am and wanted to get some breakfast. Got there at 10am and waited. Server tells me they open at 11am. Business is very unprofessional for not having their open times posted near the door and updated times on their website. Wasted my time.
cold soba is soo good and more my go to cold soba
Really good food, friendly staff. Definitely recommend!
The unagi bowl brought me back to life after a chaotic day of travel. I could feel that it was prepared with so much love! Thank you for the nourishment.
