I am assuming that people go here for the chestnuts. I cannot imagine that they are coming here for anything else. I came here for Boba. But their selection is extremely limited. Their milk tea selection is also very limited. I ended up getting a coconut doughnut and a Matcha tea latte iced. The donut was freezing cold and it wasn’t very good, and the Matcha was small with mostly ice and tasted like nothing but iced milk. I for those two things, I cannot believe that I paid $10. Only for her to also just not be good. I think that they are a bit overpriced and I will never be back. If you wanna mobile there a ton of good quality Boba places that specialize in Boba tea.
So many hidden gems in this street mall. Great ice cream
This plaza is filled with a lot amazing restaurants. The best way to top the night is to swing by hisaya Kyoto chestnut for their desserts! If you are a chestnut fan, this is a place to visit for a nice bag full to snack and share. The ice cream soft serve is my "go to" choice. There is vanilla, matcha, and chocolate to choose from. :)
One of the few locations anywhere to sell roasted chestnuts. It's also probably your only pick if you happen to want a Montblanc.Overall, I really like the chestnuts here. If you're just looking for a mildly sweet and earthy snack, the roasted chestnuts are a great pick. The Montblanc is quite nice and I appreciate that they use a noodle presser to make the strings like they would in Japan.I've definitely experienced a few Montblancs in the north where they skip that step and it does take away from the texture. Would recommend getting some matcha tea to pair with the sweetness of the cake.
The chestnuts and Fuji mountain chestnut ice cream dish are Great! We sat outside and my wife left her purse, and the staff held onto it and we were able to go back and pick it up!
The staff were unprofessional and service was disappointing.
Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - got the tiramisu and chestnut flavored donut. The tiramisu overall was good but the chestnut purée was extremely sweet. We got only about halfway through before it was too much. The donut has a subtle flavor but was dry and almost crumblyAmbience: 5/5 - very cute and cozy store. The tatami mat area is blocked off but there is a table outside to sit atService: 2/5 - very quick and efficient service but the gentleman seemed like he did not want to be there and that we were interrupting whatever he was doing in the back of the storeValue for price: 3/5 - not terribly expensive but unfortunately we didn’t care too much for the desserts
