I can't give this restaurant enough stars. The food is amazing and nuanced. The wait staff are professional and the restaurant is classy. Chef Schafer is an artist with food and flavor and his big personality is enjoyable.
Food was good and service was great for a big party. It was lunch time. It's priced on the high side. Not sure it hit the taste target, but close.
Birthday dinner here... it was awesome! Had the filet mignon with red wine mushrooms and yam mash with traditional creme brulee for dessert. Staff was attentive and friendly. Highly reccomend!
Went on December 10, 2021 to celebrate my GF's birthday. I made a reservation four days prior. I requested a booth and informed the hostess that it was for a special occasion. We arrived to have a rather rude hostess show me two tables that were available. I informed her that I requested a booth and it was for the lady's birthday. She seemed incredibly annoyed when I said that and snapped back, "All the booths are occupied. This is what we have." She didn't even make a suggestion to have us wait at the bar until a booth opened up. We wound up sitting at a small two-top by the women's restroom. Needless to say, this set the tone for my experience here.Our server was polite and got our drinks. I also requested a water, which I immediately downed. The hostess, who was carrying a pitcher of water, was refilling water glasses at other tables. She saw that I had an empty glass and walked past our table without refreshing it. In fact, no one came to refill my water glass for the 90 minutes we were there.My GF didn't complain or say anything because she had never been there before. She liked the aesthetic of the place and really enjoyed the meal (potato crusted salmon). I have no complaint about the quality of food. It was classic Depot cuisine, but the attitude of the hostess, the position of our table, and the lack of attentiveness were real downers on what was to have been a very special occasion.I've been to The Depot many times, but not since the pandemic. I was expecting a booth with linen over the tables with the confetti. Instead, I got a table by the ladies' restroom that had more traffic than the 405 at rush hour and hostess who was more intent on attending to other customers than us. In fact, I was truly embarrassed that I took my GF there after ranting about The Depot. I was apologizing as we left for having selected this restaurant.The two star rating is simply because of the quality of the food. It was the only saving grace for what was a most disappointing night. The service, especially by the hostess, was the primary reason I gave the rating I did. I can honestly say that I will not ever be returning to The Depot after this dining experience.

My wife and I were in Torrance and wanted to grab a bite. I wanted to eat something healthy and quick but my wife felt like a sit down and get served restaurant so we tried The Depot. Friendly staff. Professional. Nice atmosphere, it used to be a train station and the train still passes right outside in the afternoon. Cool spot, clean.We started with the Beets with Goat's cheese and it was delicious if you like that kinda stuff. It had two types of beets it really was delicious and their version on a Wedge salad was nothing short of terrific. The Ribeye was okay.The Chipotle Corn Mashed Potatoes were not to my liking (dry and lumpy).My wife had the Fruit cup cocktail, I took a sip, it was fruit cocktail in the bottom of the martini glass with rubbing alcohol poured over the top.Not a 5☆ outing but as always the best part of dinner was the company! great restaurant!! we've been here for Thanksgiving Day nine years now. (2020 was takeout.)
Had a fabulous time here tonight for my rehearsal dinner. Couldn’t have chosen a better venue, it was perfect and an intimate atmosphere. The food and service was spectacular and the Chef even came out to greet us all and check on us. We had a great time and I will definitely be back
