I went to the Alamo years ago and it was just ok so I gave it a try a few days ago and oh my gosh!!! 100% BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN VENTURA COUNTY!! IT was delicious I've been trying to find a good Mexican place with no luck so when I went back to the Alamo I was blown away. The prices were great too and the waiter was a sweetheart great manners way to go Alamo I highly recommend going there.
I used to live within walking distance of this place for years until moving out of state for a few years. My last visit was in 2018. Back then the place used to be really good. Food used to taste authentic, well prepared, and portions were generous and well priced. That was "back in the day".... fast forward to tonight. I walked in and noticed that on a Friday, there were only a few tables occupied. Very surprising as it was always packed especially around weekends. I ordered food for 2 and had to wait an hour before getting up and asking for it to be brought to my table. When I saw the food, I almost got up and left. The quality has dropped SIGNIFICANTLY. That explained why there were only a handful of people in there! nothing like what it used to be. Will not return.
Love the Alamo. Chips and Salsa are the best in town. Margaritas- BIG and very good!
I can say that the Asada tacos, the Carnitas tacos and the Fajitas are good. They are close to authentic soCal Mexican food... You know what that should be a thing. SoCal Mexican food. You can only get it here in SoCal and when you leave our area and have Mexican food it only makes you wish you were home in LA eating from a roach coach or at your neighborhood Mexican Restaurant. I digress though cause this neighborhood Mexican restaurant leaves something to be desired. Just the other night I ordered the Chili Colorado and I was very disappointed especially cause I paid I believe $18 for this burrito that I could even finish cause it was that bad. I had ordered through the take out and was at home otherwise I would have sent it back. The chunks of beef were like eating sand. There wasn't any sort of a red sauce in or on the burrito it was a good size bunthat was the only good thing about it. Here's another thing and it might not be just them. But am I required to tip the person taking the order art the window. They aren't serving me or waiting on me.. But when you pay with a credit/Debit card before you can even swipe your card you are required to enter your tip amount. So they are tipped before the food is even ordered. How do I know if they got it right. I feel like if I don't tip my food will have a giant luge in it and if I wanted to tip the cashier god forbid I do it based on how well/correctly they bring my order to the window in a bag or on how quickly it was put together cause I have stood there for 30 minutes before and would have tipped nothing because of that but no my tip had been given 30 minutes earlier when I placed the order. Soon I'll be required to tip the gas station clerk of the cashier's at 7/11 cause once they figure out you can add that feature to their credit card machines don't think they won't. I've gone out to hole in the wall places like this my entire life and never before have I had to tip the cashier it's ridiculous and I won't go to this place again or in case I do I'll bring cash..

I had a very long workday without any meals and was so hungry by the time I arrived. Ordered a combination plate and it really “hit the spot”. Loved their thick tortilla chips and salsa. I knew I had earned a tall margarita that day and it went down very well! Service was terrific!
Love their homemade tortilla chips and salsa. Everyone time we go there, we get different meals and no complaints yet. If you like margaritas, they have a selection.
Amazing food, atmosphere- very clean and friendly. A little old Mexican grandma came out from the kitchen offering people warm tortillas. This place is our new favorite Mexican restaurant!
Good is good, but service is terrible. We waited for our food about an hour. We ask waitress to turn on heater because Fr. Bill was really cold. We waited about an hour and they never did.
