Easy to find (right off the blvd) Plenty of parking and even on a Sunday late morning (brunch) was able to be seated right away. Manny our server was friendly and attentive. Meal was awesome. FRESH squeezed OJ w Chicken Fried Steak n gravy. Biscuits the size of my head ensured I was satisfied and staggering out the door. Definitely will be back.
Love Black Bear diners!! Best Chicken Fried Steak anywhere! Gravy is old- fashioned goodness. My husband says the Fish and Chips are the best he's ever eaten even better than the fish places we go to that charge almost twice the price. Steak and eggs are great too. Better than at some name restaurants. Salads are crisp and dressing tastes homemade. Fun atmosphere too. Generous portions.
Oh, my gosh, a friend of mine recently introduced me to this restaurant, & I can hardly wait to go back! I'd probably go there more often, if I lived closer. I'm now a huge fan of Black Bear Diner! The decor and theme are awesome; the wait staff were really, really nice and helpful; the menu was extensive, the food was excellent and plentiful enough that I was able to take half of my sandwich and fries home to enjoy for lunch the next day. I loved it there, & would go back in a hot second!
I made the mistake of not catching her name, but the hostess was absolutely wonderful. I thought she was a manager in how she conducted herself.The food was amazing. I never thought I would have breakfast as good as what you can get in The Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, but it was just as good, if not better. The atmosphere was captured as well, even in the bustling city.The proportions are MASSIVE, which is a bonus.Truly a great establishment.
Had Biscuits & Gravy, Biscuit was so stale and hard I could barley cut it with my BUCK Knife. Worst meal I ever had at one of your diners
Their menu is MASSIVE. definitely something here for everyone. Richard, our server was doing great for being there by himself. The portions are large and food was good. Cute atmosphere and theme. We've been before in Torrance and was happy to see one along our route home that night, as we were all starving. But we left full.
Kudos to the lady holding it down as the waitress. You work your butt off to keep customers happy. Yet you have staff working against you. Keep up the amazing work. Your doing great. Food is. Meahhhhhh. Good but could be better. Great size portions specially if you like to eat. Fair priced small tables. Could use more room. But hey give it a try for your self. I'm just a voice in america.
Absolutely LOVE this place. Giant portions and plenty of variety for anything you want in a chain style diner.I eat breakfast/brunch here at least every other weekend and will continue to do so as long as I live in the valley.Ask for CeCe, she's an absolute delight!
I know this is a popular chain and wanted to try. I ordered two items. Both were the worst restaurant meal I can recall being served. First was New England clam chowder. they need to check their recipe. Awful. Second, a taco salad. A pile of tasteless cooked ground chop meat on a pile of lettuce. It was improvised. Yes, the crunchy bowl was good. My companion had a burger. He didn’t complain.
