I happened to stop by when this establishment was robbed in the morning and they were missing their point of sale machine so it was either pay by cash or venmo.I was hoping for a receipt so I could get a write off on my lunch but as good as the food was it was worth it.Bbq Chicken vermicelli, they didn't have chicken broth when I requested it but I don't know if it was due to the server lady being new and rude or just not understanding.And garlic fried noodles.
Reduced menu items……. which is fine with me. Very unassuming location. Flavorful servings with fast service!
Stopped by for lunch and what a great experience! More than just pho and rice plates. Really like what Charlie is doing with the menu. A culinary experience with fresh ingredients and rotating specials. Try the specials. You won’t be disappointed. I’ll definitely be back ??
3/5 for food, 5/5 for service, so I'll give 4 stars but you can make your own decision.The owner said the Fat Charles banh mi recipe has been in his family for 10 years! The pork belly comes from Denmark and had a noticeably thinner layer of fat than American pork belly. The sandwich was flavorful and tasty, but it was a bit too bready, in my opinion.No limes for the pho, only lemons, and the pho portion was quite small. I don't think I've ever finished a bowl of pho without leftovers, and I certainly have never finished a bowl of pho and still been hungry afterwards. Until now :( Very very very little meat in the pho (smallest portion size I've ever seen)Owner was super friendly and knowledgeable, our plates were whisked away in a timely manner, and the food was served very quickly. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant as well.
I travel extensively for work, and this is one of the best vietnamese restaurants I've been to. Exceptional pho (get stir fried!) , killer bun and pork belly. The menu isn't huge, but everything in here is 1st quality.
Some of the best Bahn Mi in the bay area. The Fat Charles is the thing to have your first visit.
Very unassuming spot on the outside but this is a hidden gem. I had a braised pork noodle dish with dipping sauce. The sauce was PERFECT and the whole meal was great! Their salad is also a good mix and I loved the mint medley. Disappointed I don't live nearby ?
Wonderful ban Mi. Wonderful Vietnamese coffee. Go get it.

Their Lean Brisket Pho communicated their care and love for their craft at first sip of their fine-tuned and incredibly nuanced broth. The brisket itself came fully cooked, which was nice for takeout, and more flavorful than most vietnamese restaurants I've been to.Their Fat Charles sandwich was delightful and tasty, despite seeming small at first it was just the right size and so full of flavor.Their fine establishment was beautiful and clean. It had limited indoor seating and no outdoor seating, as well as what seemed like a steady stream of takeout orders.Will definitely keep this place in our rotation of restaurants. This place is right up there with the best restaurants around. Hope to see their menu I grow a bit more as they get more business..
