The food is excellent and they have good variety throughout the week.However, this is the 2nd time the food ordered through doordash on Sunday isn't 32 ounces. I can understand if this occurs once, but this seems like a way to treat take out customers poorly. Why do you have to advertise 32 ounces and then provide what seems like 25 ounces?
Around this place looking for South Indian meal, then this is the place you can consider. Don't expect a very good items but yes you will get one south Home food, away from homeland.Adjacent it has Indian groceries name "Indian Cash & Carry". So after shopping a good place for the appetite.This place too has a big parking area, so parking not an issue.
This is the most economical place for South Indian Cuisine. They offer daily lunch if you are a South Indian Cuisine fan and other delicacies with limited menu and generous portions, but better priced than other Bay Area South Indian restaurants.
Wow !! What a place. Amazing food. This is a true and legendary south Indian place. The taste, the vibe, the auro , the language - everything yells of a south Indian restaurant. This can't get better than this.
We love coming to Komala Vilas. The food is great. Not too spicy so it’s perfect for us. We ordered a few items. Paneer dosa is great if you’re looking for a non-spicy option. It’s a low key restaurant with great food. We have been coming here for a while and I highly recommend it. Prices are reasonable too.
Sudden cravings for dosa and south Indian Thali on a Monday evening led us here since most of our other options were closed.Sambhar is the most important component in a Thali for me. Was initially bummed that they didn't have their full Thali available that day, but had a limited plate version of it, with sambhar rice, curd rice, a chana poriyal and payasam. Big portions of everything and excellent taste. Loved the sambhar rice.The dosa was good too. The chutney portions were tiny but they do give extra cups upon request. Quick service and wasn't that crowded.
Loved the unlimited south Indian thali experience. Giving this a 4 star instead of a 5 because of the added soda in the food. It was delicious food, why add soda and spoil the experience by causing customers to bloat up? Charge a little more if needed, but cut the additional soda.
Sambar is spicy. They need to turn down the heat for general audience. Otherwise, I am not sure if I will order again. Except the sambar, everything else is great. I found 6 red chilies in a bowl of sambar that was sent for the pongal combo I ordered. The coconut chutney, mint sauce and the idly was super.
I love the south Indian thali you get at Komala Vilas. Its a very simple meal and very tasty as well. Its unlimited I believe. Also their dosa and poori masala are my other favorites. Definitely recommend this place if you are around the Bay and craving for some good south Indian food!!
The food is good. It is a little noisy but the food makes up for it.
