Bharat Bazaar is a Bay Area institution - the only Indian grocery store in the south in the 80's located in the SW corner of Lawrence and El Camino. This location came when that corner was redeveloped.South Bay now has many stores to pick from - and I would like to keep 5-stars for the best. That said, I would shop Bharat Bazaar without reservation if I was in the area.
We got a delivery online. The potatoes were rotten. Seriously, this is the 2nd time this has happened. Why did they charge $10 for delivery if they can't even bother to deliver good vegetables?Update: They refunded the cost after an email but it's still annoying to wait for a day and get rotten.
Worst online order serviceMost of the greens i ordered are dead.I call up to complain about it and the lady at bharat bazar says it was freshly bought this morning!!Never ordering online with them again, they seem to send all poor quality veggies and get rid of them for online orders (have experienced this with them multiple times)
I made payment for my purchase and their system did not print receipt. I showed my bank transaction explaining the payment was approved. The store associate stopped me walking out of the store. I felt like I was detained. The store manager or probably may be store owner came and start giving me lecture about how their sale point ATM transaction work instead of letting me go. This is very disrespectful.
Great place to buy Indian groceries. They have a wide selection of rice and wheat flour to choose from. Probably more than similar other stores. They have a good selection of utensils too. We loved their aluminum utensil selections and bought a couple and they have been a great addition to our kitchen. Their meat selection is very limited. They have cut goat and chicken. They have a chaat and snack corner too. We haven't tried it yet.Ambience: Neat and clean. Not too busyParking: AmpleLimited shopping carts available at the entrance

My experience with their online delivery was good. The person at the door called to ask what replacement would I want for the missing items instead of randomly putting anything I would not like. From vegetables to paper carry bags, everything was fine.
Seems there is deliberate wrong billing & double price display of produce & grocery. Today henna supreme pouch was buy 1 get 1 for $ 2.49 but the cashier / system charged double amount. There were 2 rates displayed though only 1 lot of capsicum red and yellow was available. Last week also red capsicum was charged at inflated price and when pointed out the cashier amended the bill. Some produce are not available while some are stale. See the photos.
Good grocery store but didn’t like the chaat junction inside as its too pricey
Be careful with billing. I have twice had experience where they will put in bill more than marked prices. When you point out they will say that there is a mistake in the price tag. Today I had really weird experience cabbage was marked at 0.69 per pound for green cabbage but the bill was for 1.09 per pound and the cashier casually mentioned mistake in price tag. However, the price clearly showed 0.69 per pound.
