This place was good for BBQ in Northern California but I wouldn’t go as far to say “real Texas BBQ.” We went about a hour and a half before closing and no items were out which leads me to believe it is not made fresh daily as traditional Texas BBQ places do. They do not have freshly brewed sweet or unsweetened iced tea.The sauces were excellent. The mild and jalapeño were available tonight and a mixture of the two was a spicy tangy flavor. The potato salad was very good. Medium sized chunks with a mild mayo/mustard sauce with the crunch from pickles and celery. The tortilla soup was good, but kinda basic. It came out very hot which was nice. Didn’t eat it until we dived into the meats and it was still a good temperature. Served with a large slice of avocado on top. Maybe better if that was sliced thinner so it was easier cut into smaller chunks to mix in the soup. The cornbread was mediocre and the butter with it came out almost frozen and unspreadable. The Texas BBQ ribs were very good on their own with the rub and with a little sauce on them. They were very large bones too!Jalapeño cheddar sausage was excellent. True flavors of cheddar and spice of jalapeño!Brisket was okay+. We opted for the half/half fatty and not. It didn’t come out in slices as I anticipated. Just a pile similar to pulled port but you could tell it was brisket by the burnt/crunchy parts and darker meat.Service was sufficient. It was mildly busy. The women taking our order was more concerned with phone orders than customers there in person. Taking them right away while we waited in person. Our food came out pretty quick which was nice.
Worst Rib I have ever had inn my existence. If I wasn’t hungry I would of puked it up and been done with it. Pulled pork sandwich, more like Dry Disgusting Trauma Stressed Pork sandwich. Truthfully this place having 4.2 stars is a lie! It’s probs a 2-3 star joint, but I morally feel obligated to rate it lower to warn people of this…..experienceRibs tasted…..like nothing? Dry unseasoned and borderline chewey ?
Very good BBQ. So far it's the best I have had in this area. I ordered the angus brisket and the chicken thigh. Great flavor for both pieces of meat. I took away a star because although the beef was tender, I believe it was overcooked. I would definitely return to try other items on the menu.
I've been going to armadillo Willy's for years I think the food truthfully was better years ago but they're barbecue is pretty darn good. Make sure you order the peanut coleslaw that's a great side
Always good tasting food. Hardly any customers in the restaurant. Probably people picking up food and taking home. Clean. Bathrooms clean.. Good parking.
How you gonna call yourself real tx bbq and not have a sauce/ onion/ pickles/ jalapeños...etc bar?! Mac n cheese is a standard side in tx not a premium. And bread an automatic gimmie. Like 50 types of fries but no fried okra?! Ok, now to the taste... not bad, a lil bland but the brisket was tender/ juicy as hell!!! That's a big + in my book. Wish they'd have more combo plates than just one meat variants. Search for that white buffalo in cali continues!
Prices have increased a bit, of course, but the portions have increased as well. We were happy to see this, as they had been a bit skimpy previously.Ribs were great, if a bit fattier than last time. Pulled pork is the best we've had locally. Beans are always a winner. Peanut slaw is consistantly good.
I've leaved in Houston Texas for 6 years and I can truly admit that this place serves some decent Texas bbq. I tried pork ribs, jalapeno and cheese links and beef brisket and they were all pretty delicious. The pork rib was a little dried in the corners but it was still fine. I've also tried the potato salad and the cashiew slaw salad and absolutely wnjoyed it. Will definitely be back to try their burgers and cajun fries because the people sitting right next to us were having it and it looked really good.
Pretty decent brisket, I got the lean brisket and it was a little dry, so next time I’ll probably get the juicy one. The bacon mac n cheese was exceptional though.
It what universe is is it 4.2 stars? BBQ brisket and ribs were dried out and no flavor. Coleslaw and potato salad were disappointing! I've given this place a few chances and all times they failed! My counter person was great but not the two guys behind the meat counter
