Believe the reviews that are posted here. One reviewer described Tocaya as an expensive chipotle. Quite true. The service is nonexistent. The person taking our order failed to give us two drinks we ordered and wanted to charge us again when I told her to check the order. No apologies. The person busing tables had his pants so low he could see his full underwear. Very appetizing. The food was decent, but nothing to write home to mom about. I felt that price for value was extremely lacking. Overall, very disappointing. I must admit, however, that the new Plaza developed around the restaurant is buzzing and fun.
Bafflingly poor. It's basically expensive Chipotle, but it somehow took them forty minutes to make. Everything about this experience was lackluster. The food was bland, the service appalling, even the music was intrusive. A failure at every level.
We love Tocaya but this location is run by staff who should not work at a restaurant. My wife had the worst kind of food poisoning the day after ordering the Baja Fish Tacos. Beware of this location. It’s literally dangerous.
One word "lousy" for this place. Lousy non flavourful food, lousy servers. This is fake Mexican food. The workers were wearing the same pair of gloves to clean and serve food all night long. Restaurants come and go. This one is no exception. Just a matter of when
My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while. We finally went and Jeremy went above & beyond to make our first time there very special. Michael was patient with us on register as we asked many questions and took a little more time to decide. My boyfriend has many food allergies (wheat, corn, sesame, soy) and he tried their gluten free quesadilla made of sorghum flour and it was AMAZING! He hasn’t been able to enjoy a quesadilla in almost a decade as they are usually made with wheat flour. The food is so FRESH, so healthy! Best guacamole I’ve ever had. The bowls are very filling and absolutely delicious! I will never step foot into a Chipotle again bc of this place! Also, the chairs are very comfortable and the restaurant is gorgeous! Thank you Jeremy for being so kind to us! We’ve already been back with a family member and we will continue to bring more of our friends/family here.
This place can’t handle crowd specially on their happy hours and on their toco Tuesday ! We waited 55 min and I ordered 3 taco and guacamole I got three guacamole and one tacoIt 1 1/2I believe is the management / the cashier play big role making people wait because they kitchen can’tHandle it !!Also their menu complicated to say the least !Terrible experience won’t go back …..
Food, vibe & menu great. Service laughably insufficient & inefficient. I’ve been here a few times now and every time they get something wrong or takes ages. They have clearly invested a lot of money into this spot so I beg the owners to read this. I’m not going to go to the other reviews but I’m guessing this place has an average of three stars based on the serviceOwners, train your staff. Let them know what they need to be doing and empower them.Show them how to run a busy restaurant effectively and I bet you will see your star rating go up to 5.There’s a lot of promise here and I know it’s easy to ignore the stuff but you may as well work on getting it right. As who doesn’t want a great local spot for tacos?!
Two times in a row I’ve ordered the street corn bowl only to get home and see they didn’t add any corn. In the STREET CORN bowl. No corn in the street corn bowl. Just not gonna go back again at this point.
Favorite place to eat!!! Fajita burrito is amazing, plantain chips and guacamole is incredible and the gluten free churro waffle bites are to DIE FOR!!!!! Went there every day of the week!!!
Horrible experience at this new location (which I’d mentioned to the server that it was my first visit to the location) I placed two orders, and had to wait 20 minutes in between each being ready. Then to drive 7 miles home to discover the later order was incorrect. :/ thanks studio city location for what could have been an amazing Saturday lunch with my family!
