I called Sombreros and the owner Chuey and I agreed to set up a day for them to bring their food truck out to one of our events in town. Chuey said we were "locked in" and claimed they raised their price requirement to show up. We agreed again that it was okay that it was more expensive now.Well they must have been offered more money or when he said he checked his schedule he didn't. I'm fine with not having Sombreros food at our event. But I'm not fine with making a plan and then backing out due to being offered more money. That or Chuey is incompetent and didn't realize after "checking his schedule" that he had agreed on coming.I do not recommend hiring Sombreros Mexican Restaurant for any events, parties, etc. They will cancel on you last minute leaving you hanging to dry. However, Chicos burgers has some of the best tacos in South Lake Tahoe. Buy from them, they cater as well. Very nice people who follow through with their word.SMH Sombreros Mexican Restaurant.
The worst food I have ever had. Gas station burritos are better than this. Quesadilla also a joke. The quacamole is not traditional, it's not bad but has tomato and mint?. Definitely would not recommend
Great food! I ordered a shrimp taco and a fish taco, absolutely delicious. My friends also enjoyed their meals. The restaurant is kind of small, bathroom was average- there weren’t any paper towels. Other than that I’d definitely come back here again!
I was starving when we stopped at Sombreros, so this review might be a bit hunger-biased ?TL;DRGood going down, not good after that. The food was actually quite decent. Nothing to really write home about, but also none was leftover. It was the after-effects that drive this review though. I'll be saving you the gory details (you're welcome lol). Let's just say that night/next morning was baaaad. It tore up everyone that ate there with me too, and from a variety of menu choices.... So I'm pretty sure it wasn't just a me thing. I'm not saying don't try it, just be prepared!
Good place for quick bites with outdoor seating. Its all about location. In the middle of snow covered mountains right by the road.
The food is decent the interior is very tastefully done and you have to be very specific on your order because if you're not specific you may be likely to be disappointed I love the taste of their food but they are only human and they are prone to error that's the only reason why I gave this before not a five star
Stale chips. Refried beans that looked and tasted like they were from a can. Fish tacos that were just meh.
2 very small shrimp tacos, rice and beans for $15.00. Not very impressive! The rice tasted stale and the beans were rather lard flavored. I had asked for extra tortillas, and they forgot about that. I would not recommend eating here, although some other people seem to have had a better experience. To me it was nothing special, and kind of a letdown.
8 bucks gets you a very good burrito.
Chips were stale but they did agree to make fresh ones. Tacos/quesadillas meh at best. Food is much better across the street that's for sure.
