Sharing this NOT to spread more negative out in the world specially to restaurants, BUT I hope whoever owns or is in charge of the quality of the food takes some sort of action to add some flavor to it.NEVER have I or entire family that I came with to this restaurant came across getting charged for “chips and salsa $4+”. It’s always been complimentary. Next thing, the rice and the beans. Rice felt and tasted like it might have been “warmed up” the entire day, it was dry almost as if it wasn’t cooked all the way. One of the two. No flavor, just like the black and red beans. The steak or “carne asada”, it was poorly cut and could tell the grill they cooked it on doesn’t get cleaned very often. The kids burger was a major fail, the meat was too over cooked. The fajita bowl was mostly a mushroom bowl. We weren’t even there for more than 30mins, from the moment we ordered to the moment we picked up our plates and throw almost all of the food away. We had to get our kids food somewhere else. More than a disappointment it was a terrible idea and experience to have spend $240+ at this “Mexican Bistro”.
Top notch and worth a stop. I had the BBQ quesadilla, wifey had the Chile Relleno, and our 12 y/o got the Ahi Salad. All three dishes came out fast, perfectly done and with quality ingredients. This was our first time here but it will be a regular stop from now on. The staff was great, too. Owners were on site on a Sunday afternoon, and you could tell by the interaction between the employees and them that it’s a good work culture.
I had the crispy fish taco. I was expecting a crunchy taco shell but got crispy breaded fish. I wish I could get it without the crunchy breaded exterior. I didn’t know it came with guacamole. I would skip on the guacamole. The guacamole pieces are too big. All the vegetables in the taco were delicious. Next time, I’d ordering a veggie taco.
Amazing food! Surf and Turf Tacos (shrimp and brisket) are the Best. Tacos. I’ve ever had. Awesome guacamole. This place has real soul. Eat here!
First time and last time here. I was hoping for authenticity. We had to ask for our chips and salsas instead of giving it to us as we wait. Not sure how my Chile relleno had a BBQ like smokey flavor. But it had a CHAR like sabor to it. Not toasty like when we roast them for us who know how to cook. Beans were dry, rice was microwavedDoesn't taste like real "Mexican rice". My little boy wanted a burger. We skipped the BBQ sauce it came with and asked for it to be well done. It was burned. Not well done still kind of pink in the middle. As for the "salsas" it was made from mostly canned tomatoe sauce. I'm disappointed. It has great reviews only reason we came to dine in since we are from out of town. Cost about an arm and leg to eat here only to be disappointed.Hubby says it sucked. It needs flavor and missing customer service.8 yr old boy says TERRIBLE.i didn't even want to eat it since it tastes burn and had no flavor. He had MAYBE 3 bites.Our 3 yr old says she like she enjoyed their quesadilla! I took a bite myself and thought it wasn't to bad. I hope their food can be turned up a notch ...notches. I don't understand the ratings to this place though??♀️
Didn't even get a chance to eat at this place, we walked in and the staff was very unwelcoming. They seemed more intrigued by the conversation they were having, rather than greeting their guests as they come in or even offer them a place to sit down to eat. When we asked if it was open seating they seemed bothered to be interrupted so we continued to sit down to browse the menu. When we looked around to order, or even for a staff to offer water or take our order they were no where to be found. We sat for another 10mins and left completely and utterly disappointed with the customer service. So we got up went to "The Getaway Cafe" which is right across the street! Always have great food and great service.
Best Chimichanga on earth! Brisket was my choice. Food is amazing! Hope you don't find this little place. I wanna keep it for myself!
This place has no right being as good as it is. It's a Mexican restaurant in the middle of Tahoe. That's ridiculous. But the food is beautiful, it's delicious, it's cheap, it comes out quickly. No complaints and highly recommend
Wide variety of great Mexican food. Place opens early for folks looking for an early bite. Friendly staff. Open to ton of customization to your order. Solid 4/5 food. Would visit again.
I want to love this place. They have excellent fried calamari. They’re just severely understaffed. Our hot food was delivered to us without forks or napkins or napkins—sitting outside in Tahoe gets the food cold fast. We used our hands- whatever. They told us they’re working on the dish ware while we eat our food with our hands.
