We made a last minute decision to stay here having decided that our original hotel booking was not in a great location. So glad we made the change (and paid the extra $) Our family had a Fireplace Cottage room. 2 queen beds and a pull out for five of us was fairly tight space wise, but we had a pretty outdoor fireside space and the grounds of the resort are gorgeous, so we did not have to spend too much time inside. Pool and gardens are beautifully maintained, hammocks dotted around the grounds to relax in. Each room has bikes that guests can use to make the short journey into Sonoma Plaza, which is delightful. Oh, and I'm not sure how they do it, but the whole place smells like lavender and orange blossom. Laurie, the concierge was fabulous and made us last minute reservations for a tasting at Patz and Hall - highly recommended. Did not eat at the flagship restaurant as prices were eye watering, but tacos from the casual eatery were delicious. Would stay again in a heartbeat.
My team and I at UC Berkeley worked with The Lodge at Sonoma Resort to plan and execute one of our departmental programs, a week-long writing retreat for 15 invited guests in June 2022. The Lodge staff were really wonderful to work with. They made sure all our needs were met - including dietary needs, room accommodations, and space arrangements. They were very helpful in finding a budget that worked with our needs and advising us on the best menu/catering options for our budget. The Lodge staff even gave us upgrades and made special arrangements to make sure we had the event space and rooms that would work best for our program. The event itself was a huge success. Attendees agreed the venue was beautiful, the staff attentive, and the food delicious. Everyone had a true sense of a retreat. We really appreciate all The Lodge staff did to make this such a successful event for us. Thanks so much!
Have you ever checked into a resort in silence? That was our experience at the Lodge in Sonoma. I’ve never been to a resort where I was not welcomed and virtually ignored during our visit. Upon checking in, the only question asked of us was “is this your first time staying with us?” To which we enthusiastically answered “yes!” You would assume information about the resort would shortly follow… but it didn’t. Apparently that’s wishful thinking. We were checked in by Amanda who is filling in for someone at the front desk and working for Marriott. I don’t know how someone with such poor social skills could work for Marriott corporate, unless she’s a number cruncher. The unenthusiastic staff continued out to the pool where the attendant took their time to get our food order. The server then forgot to bring us napkins so I just used their pool towels to wipe my mustard fingers on— their bad, not mine. The staff at registration and out at the pool truly made us feel like our requests were inconveniencing them. I expected a certain level of professionalism and service considering the price of this place but I was left incredibly disappointed. Of course, those working hardest were the women/señoras tending to the hotel rooms ensuring their cleanliness. They are indeed appreciated. The only redeeming quality of this hotel is wit and wisdom restaurant, which is attached to the hotel. W&W went above and beyond to ensure a positive experience. Perhaps the expert staff at W&W could do a training of hotel staff? The Lodge of Sonoma is a victim of its own cool factor. They think playing Xm chill all day and providing instagrammable sites is what makes a resort. Please get a clue and work on your customer service. With all the accommodations in Sonoma, this is not one I will recommend. Look elsewhere.
One of the biggest regrets of our recent holiday to California was not being able to spend more than a night at the Lodge at Sonoma. We had high hopes for this stay but the hotel, and the town, far exceeded expectations. Our Suite Night Award was accepted and we were upgraded to one of the cottages which was spacious and comfortable. Subsequently, we enjoyed the wine tasting, drinks at the bar and breakfast at Benicia’s Kitchen. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I can’t recommend this property highly enough.
We spento a night at the Lodge in Sonoma, and we had wonderful time! Staff is kind and always ready to help. Room are clean and Confortable the Pool is a blast. The overall property is the perfect wine country escape..I really recomend it.
I just spent 3 nights at the Lodge as part of a vacation this year and have nothing but good things to say. First, the staff is awesome. Roseanne at the front desk, who also drives the shuttle to the plaza, is a pleasure to speak to and provided nothing but awesome service and enjoyable conversation. I also cannot say enough about the bar staff at the on-site restaurant, Wit & Wisdom. Ken, Ben, and Nick are all just awesome dudes and made a solo dinner at the bar very enjoyable. It’s always nice to engage with people in the hospitality industry who are not only great at what they do, but clearly enjoy doing it. I ended up going to Wit & Wisdom 2 out of my 3 nights there to chat with the bar guys and enjoy their 32oz bone-in ribeye, which is nothing short of phenomenal (particularly if you are trying to stick to a keto/carnivore diet on vacation - it’s perfect). I loved the pool area, Benicia’s Kitchen (also on site) was a great breakfast spot, and the lounge near the lobby is a very comfy location to relax and enjoy a good book. It’s just a beautiful facility and when you’re ready to get out a bit, Roseanne will take you to the plaza in the shuttle or you can just walk there. The 1.2 mile walk (2.4 round trip) is perfect if you are trying to reduce that post-meal insulin spike, and you can pick up a tasty coffee at Dutch Bros. coffee on the way. (Dutch Bros is right on Broadway and has heavy cream if you are trying to stay keto.) I will 100% be back at the Lodge in the future. Just an awesome experience. -Nick
Wonderful base to explore Napa and Sonoma. Laurie Noble in particular went out of her way to help us organize our visit, booking both tastings and meals based on our ideas and her own knowledge. The property is beautiful, well maintained, and the restaurant has really upgraded from our last trip about 3 years ago.
I’d like to recognize Julia Erwin (Front Desk Supervisor) for going out of her way to ensure we were taken care of in three specific scenarios: 1) we requested a room change to balcony and extended stay and she made it happen seamlessly! 2) one of us had a little accident and she was attentive to our recovery ❤️? 3) we had a lost item and she managed to get it back to us Thank you for ensuring our stay was memorable and that we were well taken care of. Thank you, David and Boris
The hotel is special! Especially enjoyed walking around the beautifully decorated/designed property. There are bikes are available, a pool, and more. The cottages felt like a home away from home with the fireplace and outdoor seating!
We had the opportunity to stay at The Lodge while we visited family in Sonoma. We originally booked another hotel but at the last second the lodge became available. I am so happy that we made the switch. We stayed in cottage with two double beds and absolutely loved our experience. The room was spacious and welcoming, the pool was a great mix of relaxing and energizing, and to top it all off we had an amazing meal at Wit and Wisdom. We look forward to next stay here at The Lodge!
