MacArthur Place is by far our favorite hotel. We love coming here because it's total relaxation (pool, spa) and the service is amazing, exactly what you expect from a luxury hotel! It's worth every penny to stay here. Both Dulce and Michael at the front desk were so warm, welcoming and always so friendly. We love that the hotel is dog friendly too so we don't have to leave our guy behind. We have stayed in quite a few different rooms here, all have been fabulous but our favorite is still the garden room with the outdoor shower. Location to town is wonderful too, especially if you love fine dining and wine tasting! I'm dreaming about when we'll be back again...
My husband & I stayed at MacArthur Pl for our 5th wedding anniversary. The room was clean & the bed was comfortable. Concierge Debra hooked us up at the best wineries around town. She listened to what we were looking for and totally delivered.
Our first visit to Sonoma. Stayed 3 nights at MacArthur Place. Everything was perfect. Pretrip planning was very good. Got useful suggestions on restaurants and activities. Booked the full day Bohemian Tour and it was fantastic. MacArthur Place is a wonderful property. The rooms and grounds are perfect. Our room was a mainfloor outdoor shower room. Very quiet and comfortable. Everything about the room was first rate. We only were able to use the restaurant for breakfast (2x), but it was also terrific. Service was quick and efficient and the food was amazing. I wish Sonoma was closer to home. If it was, we would be quick to come back for another visit!
Definitely reserve the room with outside shower, it is fun. Breakfast and lunches on the outside veranda very pleasant. And if you are staying on Tuesday, there is festival in Sonoma downtown that is worth to check it out.
Love the spa, the rooms, the grounds and staff. The menu tries to hard. As a hotel guest, I couldn't be seated for lunch or make a reservation for dinner that evening after checking in. What happened to prioritizing guests that are actually staying at the resort? Ordered room service after an afternoon of spa treatments and didn't eat 90% of it. I ordered the gemelli as an example. I make better pasta in a microwave with a jar of Rao's. I had to go off of the property for a decent meal. Expedited our check-out so we could get breakfast in town.
Found the hotel by happenstance - stopped for a lunch at Layla and fell in love with the property. We were staying at another hotel but promptly checked out and checked in at MacArthur Place instead! The property was incredibly beautiful with plenty of winding garden paths between buildings, lots of places to sit and enjoy the scenery with swings and fire pits. The room was similarly beautiful and well decorated. Everything in the hotel feels very deliberate and thoughtful, with a perfect mix of luxury and comfort. Service was exceptional. Hands down one of our favorite parts about the visit here, will definitely come back!
Definitely a 5 star stay. Fantastic aesthetics, with a very friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend for a luxury stay in Sonoma.Pros:- Lovely, well kept rooms. We stayed in Jasmine Cottage which was spacious and beautiful- Restaurant and bar was excellent.- Service throughout the hotel was friendly and efficient (Miranda at Layla was fantastic)We were particularly impressed by the Hotel Manager. He is ever present, focused on all the small details of the place, isn’t afraid to help out (we saw him collecting room service plates & cleaning a stain off the floor) and seems to be warmly respected by all the staff. The hotel is very well run and that is no surprise, given this type of visible leadership.Cons:- Gym is a little small.- Drinks service at pool is limited.

My wife and I spent our 12th wedding anniversary weekend at MacArthur Place and were both very impressed. The check-in process was seamless, the property was extremely clean, well appointed and well cared for by the staff. We had a delicious dinner at Layla and loved the outdoor vibe there. Special shout out to Jeff Tazelaar at the front desk, who went above and beyond for us during our stay. Highly recommend and we will be back!
MacArthur Place in Sonoma County is definitely a spot that we are glad to have experienced and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves to bring their furbabes along as they travel. Our dog is only two and is still growing into his chill factor. To help ease his high alertness (and be mindful of our neighbors), we called ahead and asked if they would be able to place us in a room that is further away from a lot of foot traffic. Thankfully, MacArthur Place was able to accommodate us and we were able to stay at the far West corner of the property.Aesthetically, I appreciated the neutral tones and minimalistic decor of the suite. There were several large windows in our suit that we were able to open the shades and let the natural sunlight beam through. Overall, the property provided a beautiful space for us to retreat to. We also appreciated that upon arrival, our dog was provided with a fluffy dog bed and dog bowls to use during the stay. He was not shy to put either to use!The overall property of MacArthur Place provided a great sense of retreat. Tall trees and small pockets of garden space surrounds the property and throughout the nooks of the walkway. If you would like to soak up some sun outside of their spa/pool area, there are plenty of outdoor patio seats for guests to enjoy. If you prefer to be by the pool, you can actually bring your dog in as well (they just can’t go inside the pool.). This is a nice accommodation that I don’t come across often at other hotels/resorts.Layla is a restaurant within the property that has indoor and outdoor seating. With the outdoor seating, it allowed us to bring our dog to join us for dinner. From their Summer 2022 menu, I would recommend their Braised Pork Collar as well as the Classic Cannoli for dessert. Should you get chilly dining outdoors, they have plenty of portable heaters (and blankets) that are available upon request.Aside from a being a beautiful dog-friendly property, I also wanted to recognize that MacArthur Place opts for eco-friendly options such as QR code menus/information in the rooms and offer Just Water bottles to guests. In addition, there are electric bikes available for guests to use to explore the area. Also, the guest service is top notch. Everyone from valet to housekeeping was friendly and would go the distance to make us feel at home. We definitely look forward to coming back again in the future.Tip: If you’re an American Express Platinum cardholder, definitely look into booking MacArthur Place through the Fine Hotels + Resorts program. Through the program, you’ll be able to take advantage of some great rewards such as guaranteed late check-out (4pm), experience credit, daily breakfast for two, and so forth.
