Gave 2 stars because the food was good. BUT the service...We took my sister here for her graduation (we love trying new Mexican restaurants around San Diego because they really are the best). We were all dressed up for the occasion, and he flirted with her the entire time. He kept coming back to our table to "chek on her" put his hand on her back, grin at her, interrupt our conversations, etc. She was creeped out and even kept asking "Is he coming back again??" He belittled my fiance each time he said anything, and the rest of the time pretended like we weren't even there. He was constantly forgetting our food and we ended up leaving before it all came because of it. He even made my sister hug him and tried to get her number before we left. Gross? Sis didn't say much while we were there, but she was disgusted. We all felt super creeped out the entire time and will never go back. Totally ruined. Which is a shame. Cause like I said, the food is pretty good.
Everyone was very nice and courteous EXCEPT for one older waiter who wore a mask and was exceptionally grumpy! He made it very obvious that anything we asked for (water, more chips, etc.) was a great hardship for him. ? I was told by the woman that I was dining with, & eats there regularly, that he is always like this which I find very disheartening!! Otherwise, the food was very good and the prices on the luncheon menu were reasonable!! Will definitely eat there again but will ask for a different waiter. ??
Marieta's is the bomb! Best Mexican restaurant in Santee, that's a fact! Fast service and delicious food and very good drinks. Highly recommend.
We had dinner this evening. Ordered margaritas and they gave us glass of limade and charged us for a margarita. We asked for extra chips and salsa and charged us $5.00 for each order($10.00). Chips and salsa are free. Our food took an hour to be served.
This has been a family favorite for literally decades but we've all noticed an intense decrease in service and food quality. It's not the same. Lots of new staff and lack of attention.
Off to santee an a visit to marietas Mexican restaurant. Over the weekend, while in santee, I stopped in at Marietas Mexican restaurant for a combo plate. I got the #4(?) plate which is a favorite of mine an a soda. It's a smaller place compared to others I've been to, but nice non the less. Service was good an accurate. It wasn't too busy probably because I stopped in prior to the dinner rush.If your in the Santee area during your travels, stop in for a bite! Enjoy!!
Good food, and good prices. Some of the staff is great, others not so much. Our experience is definitely dependent on who our waiter is.
So bad I don't know where to even start. Was told 20 minutes to be seated. It took over 1 hour and 20 minutes. Food was terrible starting w the salsa which was like spicy ketchup. Guac was horrible and watery. Entrees were some of the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. Not sure how this place even stays open with so many other better places to eat. To top it all off the older gentleman waiter who served my party of 5 pretty much completely ignored us the entire time, leaving drinks and chip baskets empty the entire time. One of the worst dining experiences I ever had.
Lunch specials were great, Alpine is our favorite just because its closer. But this is a great Marieta's
Horrible experience from the minute we arrived. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait. We ended up waiting over an hour. Then when we were finally seated we had horrible service. Our server totally ignored us. Our drinks stayed empty and our appetizers were served at the same time as the meal which took forever to arrive. Our server kept touching his mouth, even biting his nails at one point. All this during Covid. The food was terrible. I would have to say it was the worst Mexican food i have ever had in San Diego. I really have no idea how this place has any good reviews. Go elsewhere if you want good food and good service.
