This is our second time to The Independence and yet again the service and food were amazing we ate the Smash Burger and the Mushroom Burger which both were so delicious and juicy. The surprise winner was the broccoli appetizer this was so amazing and savory. We will definitely be back and are always happy to come here.
Food tastes okay, but really nothing special. You can get a much better meal at a far cheaper restaurant. The Independence is way overpriced, portions are relatively small, and doesn't offer anything new or exciting as an experience. Service isn't very fast or good.
Is located in best area next to public parking across the beach next to 3rd street and hotels. They have the bestbstaff very friendly. The food is amazing wow i will definitely be coming back for more. We came for brunch and of course i had alcohol ? express martini to he exact.Great service, great food.
Love the truffle fries and coconut crusted French toast. Service was excellent and attentive.
During our trip to L.A. for a movie premier, we did some site seeing which included a visit to Santa Monica. The family wasn't looking for something special, just breakfast. I can say we were pleasantly please with our choice of stepping into The Independence. The food was phenomenal and we told everyone. Only sad part, a couple days later, on a Tuesday, I coordinated a group of people to meet us for brunch and the place was closed when Google and FB said it was open. Either way, we plan to make this a go to destination when we go to L.A.
The Independence is a wonderful dining experience in Santa Monica. Have been quite a few times. I’ve had the oysters, fish and chips, salmon, and wings. Each dish was delicious and the presentation was on point. Also the drink menu has a decent assortment of wines and liquors. Although I am personally partial to the Uncle Nearest. Great vibe and professional and attentive staff. When in LA check it out.
Prices on menu were wrong. And the bottomless mimosas charged $7 extra PER flavor. Also food wasnât that amazing. Server was nice.
We had the best time at independence!! This was such a fun brunch spot with the best food selection and great wait staff we are so lucky to get into this place!

We were looking for brunch in Santa Monica and stumbled upon the Independence based off their raving reviews... so, we had to try it. We ordered the egg benedict, huevos rancheros and a side of the potatoes, and a mimosa. We were so impressed with the presentation and QUALITY of the food. Our waiter recommended the food for us and we got to meet the manager, who was the sweetest man ever! Would totally recommend the Independence to anyone looking for a spot for brunch, you wont be disappointed! Customer service is wonderful, food is great and its next to the pier!
