I don't typically eat donuts but I was working across the street and needed to grab something to snack on before my meeting and I love Apple fritters so i thought i would walk over and grab one. After working my way around the homeless people camped out front i made it inside. The display case was packed which was nice and they had plenty of Apple Fritters on display. The service was fast since there were only two customers in there and i asked the guy for an Apple Fritter. He didn't grab one out of the display but grabbed one off of an open rack sitting behind the cash register. I thought that was weird but then thought maybe those are the fresh ones. He tossed it in a brown paper bag with no paper around it which seemed a little unsanitary to have the donut just sitting in the bag unwrapped. I also wanted a hot chocolate but there machine was broke so i just got the donut. I walk back across the street to my job site and had to leave for a meeting so i hadn't tasted the donut yet. As im driving i take a bite and the donut is dry and burnt. I was hoping for a moist, soft donut but i got a hard, dry, burnt one. I guess the rack behind the register are the bad ones. If i wasn't off to a meeting i would have turned around and returned it but i didn't have time. Needless to say i won't be going back here. I gave it 2 stars because the service was OK and the place was clean.
I walked in and greeted the woman standing behind the counter, she returned no response. I provided a second response for which she reluctant barely spoke. In other words customer service was lacking. I get back to my car after purchasing 2 donuts only to realize that the donut is refrigerator cold and did not taste fresh. The donuts do not taste the same at each location, the brand name is being diluted. More unbecoming was the donuts being placed in brown paper bag. The store had little to no traffic when I went in, I understand why.
Good apple fritter and decent coffee. Good prices. But no environmental responsibility at all. I wanted to use my travel mug. I can understand that in these times the server doesn't want to touch my mug. But instead of filling a single paper cup from the coffee urn and then emptying the cup into my mug (so she can reuse the cup for the next customer), she insisted on filling a cup, adding an extra insulation ring, AND a plastic lid before giving it to me, and then instructed me to go over to another table to empty the coffee into my own mug, and to just throw everything else away. So clueless and wasteful. (And no gratuity as a result!)
I'm a regular since they opened and all the employees know my "usual" order. Good location, good parking, homemade donuts from in-store bakery , reasonable prices, friendly staff. Always ask if coffee is fresh - made within the last hour and if it's not, ask for fresh pot and employees will make it for you. Texas Raised is my favorite but don't order it because they'll run out and I won't get mine ! ? John and Fernando are the Legacy staff who have been with Randy's since the beginning and they are Very attentive , professional, and even warmer than their donuts so go in and say Hi and order the Blueberry cake donut or the glazed.Bearclaw .
This is an absolutely honest donut shop. You can get the trendy obligatory bacon or blueberry but I go for the old fashioned chocolate or a simple pink frosted cake with sprinkles for the kids. The old fashioned bar is exceptional value and the coffee is just superb, flavorful but smooth enough to take black. The bathroom by the way is impeccably maintained and has a manual faucet with ample folded paper towels. The hygiene is evident with the simple but well executed white brick tile herringbone walls which gleam. The smallish patio faces south so the sun's welcome depends on how early you get there. There aren't that many chairs which may be due to vandalism or theft and an umbrella could help. But as an early riser I like the full light. You can pay significantly more at the weird bougie high-end donut shops nearby but if you want a cup of Joe and a donut your grand uncle would recognize this is your place
This review is not a reflection on the quality of the donuts, because those are amazing. Instead I want to review the manager at this particular location. Like I said, the donuts are so tasty and I highly recommend them. However, I have a hard time coming back to this location now because of how horrible the manager is. I was walking in and a man outside asked me very kindly if I could buy him a hot coffee (it was a cold day). I never decline anyone food so I said of course and walked inside. When I tried ordering the coffee the manager said he couldn't serve it to me because it was for the man outside. I asked why and he said "the more we offer those kinds of people food, the more they will beg. They'll never learn and it's bad for our business. We need to get them out of their bad habits". I was really disgusted by his response and by the fact he was talking about the man like he was a dog or something? I told the manager the coffee was actually for me and he still refused to serve it to me. I ended up leaving in tears and had to explain to the man that I wasn't allowed to buy him a coffee. The man was so kind and not bothering anyone and was very understanding. Unfortunately, I think a bad review is more likely to hurt the business than me buying a coffee for someone outside. Sadly, I will not be returning to this location. I can't stand cold hearted people like that.
I've eaten A LOT of donuts in my life...I mean A LOT (heck, my profile pic is of a cake that looks like a piece of candy)...AND these are the best raised donuts I've ever had - I don't ever eat the cake variety of donuts so I can't comment on those, but I would imagine they are just as wonderful.
Donuts are off the chain..good eats. They have pretty fresh coffee. No lines .. great location. Nice staff. Love it.Rams donut today!!!
Just as good as all the other locations. Donuts are incredible
Randy's Donuts has a pretty new location in Santa Monica. I am a donut super fan. I go out of my way for good donuts or to try new donut places. I didnt set out to stop by Randy's but I was in the area to pick up something for Thanksgiving.I've had Randy's before many times. Their dough is fantastic in both the cake style and the raised donuts and their new location is keeping up with the quality. The particular area of Santa Monica is donut central. There are multiple chains and a few small business donut shops all within a few blocks of each other. Just a funny observation.
