Absolutely the worst Mediterranean food that I've ever had. Everything tasted like a bucket of salt. The Gyro I got was one of the worst Gyros I've ever tasted. The soup tasted like it was going to dehydrate me for days. I went home and had to dump my soup into a colander and wash the leftover chicken with fresh water. Afterwards, the chicken still tasted like salt and nothing else. I gave an extra star because the service was good. The girl in the front was very professional and courteous. But wow, I never thought that you could go wrong with Mediterranean food until now. I haven't been this disappointed in a place since 2018.
(edit - after posting management did reach out and we had a positive discussion about potential improvements, so I've changed this from 1 star to 2 stars) - Quality and taste leaves much to be desired. The gyro is small, has almost no tomato or onion, and has french fries inside to make it seem larger. At least the menu does show it's not lamb - but beef/lamb. Is that why it's so dry? The kids plate is listed under "Plates", which all come with a side salad, but when it came out - it didn't. Even the employees agreed that it's confusing. The fries taste "stale" and are dry. Be sure to ask if they were recently made, so you don't get ones that have Sat under the lamp for too long.
Doesn’t have a wide selection of Greek food
I came to try chicken gyro specifically craving that taste of gyro with tzatziki sauce that should be in it since I tried many gyros in Greece I know the taste, but unfortunately they don’t put that sauce in the chicken one. Tasted like a regular sandwich
Best souvlaki and gyros I had for a long time , honestly equivalent to the original ones we have back in Greece . I would recommend to try adding the mustard sauce in the pita gyros/souvlaki as it gives extra flavour . Also very quick and kind staff… great job guys!!
First time at this Nick the Greek in Santa Monica, very happy to have Greek food back in the neighborhood. I had the lamb/beef gyro, the meat was well seasoned and moist, great tzatziki and the pita was soft and fresh. My only complaint would be the lack of fries that are included in the gyro, there was maybe 3 or 4 on the whole sandwich. Reasonable prices.
This was honestly the best restaurant I visited in my time here in Santa Monica! Spent some time off here in California and this restaurant was spectacular! Nice employees! Best Greek food I have had. If your looking for a good place to eat on your vacation also, I highly recommend this restaurant. Very flavorful and enjoyable :)
Food is always good. There were some mistakes with our order and Tatiana was very helpful and patient. She fixed the errors and made for a pleasant experience.
I am so happy to have Nick The Greek here in Santa Monica! If you crave Greek food, this is the place! It's mostly a take out place but there are tables inside and barstools to sit down and eat while looking at passersby. I ordered a Falafel Bowl, to go. It was very filling and tasty! My only issue is that they need more staff. I saw a family waiting for their meal outside and they inquired about their food. There seemed to be a lot of Online Take Out orders for delivery which took more a priority. The interior is clean and inviting. Metered street parking. It's located on the north side of Arizona. Look for the blue awning.
I should have trusted the other reviews. The meat (both pork skewer and lamb/beef gyro) was drier than jerky. The lukewarm gyro was topped by three pathetic cold french fries. I order and pay for a drink as well, which was constantly ignored by this clerk that acted like I was a leper proposing marriage. I'll never return.
