We decided to stop and rest of feet after walking up and down Montana Ave during their sidewalk sale. It was a warm summer humid day in Santa Monica.Margo's was a perfect oasis. At first I wanted to sit inside, thinking they would have air conditioning. I was wrong. It was a sauna inside. There is a small bar right in front if you want to sit for a cocktail, but we chose to order, pay and find a table outside around the corner where we could get an ocean breeze. This is not a full service restaurant as it once was pre pandemic.Service was a bit slow, because they were under staffed and this is why I am giving them 4 stars instead of 5. I had to walk into the restaurant and ask for glasses for water. Outside there is a self service station with chilled water, but no glasses/ cups.We ordered a mushroom pizza and a baby kale salad to share. The food arrived and it smelled so good, but we had to ask for extra plates. I wanted to have a plate for my pizza and salad because we were sharing both items. I also had to ask the staff for refills on my ice tea.The mushroom pizza was delicious! We love mushrooms, so it was heavenly! The baby kale salad was so tasty with the crunchy toasty faro. I will definitely recommend both items again.Metered parking only. Read the parking signs carefully.
Holy wow, the food! Everyone LOVED it, and only 1 person there was vegan, so meat-lovers will still approve.The pasta(!!), pizza, fries, tacos, sliders, everything was a hit with our group. The drinks were also really good. Ambience is chill. There's a small dedicated lot for parking, and then street parking. Overall just a great, if upscale priced, vegan place.
So first, I just love the location. The old Cafe Montana is now a welcoming spot with a diverse plant based menu along with other items. The outdoor patio is so lovely and the service is top notch. My meal left something to be desired but that's ok because my friend loved her French toast and I did as well. Cooper, the manager was so attentive, friendly and accommodating and because I wasn't thrilled with my meal offered one on the house on my next visit. I will definitely be doing brunch here again since there are so many other things that I want to try. Thank you Cooper!

Decided to take myself on a date and try this place recommended by a friend. I was told that this place used to serve different options but is now plant-based! I love when I can look at everything on a menu and choose whatever I please. Even though everything is vegan now, I think this place still has something for everyone's liking whether it's a burger or pizza or delectable drink.Pictured: I tried the impossible sliders, they are fantastic. I was worried they would seem like a normal burger, just small, but the jalapeño aioli made it top notch flavor. I also tried the jackfruit pineapple (al pastor) taco, along with a drink called sorry not sorry which is sweet and spicy.Overall the sliders were the star of the show. I can't wait to go back try more things (and drinks!) and bring some friends who I know would love this place next time!
The ambience is chill and the food is prepared delicately. We had mushroom pizza, which is a little too salty and oily. It might be better to pair with a drink which we didn’t get. There is also a nice bar with big TV. The pesto was good, not too saucy or oily, the portion tho is not that big. But the pizza can probably be shared by two. Service is okay; parking available in the back. Would recommend only if you are looking for vegetarian/vegan food AND wanting to get some drinks at the same time.
Super yummy!!! Oh my goodness this place is full of goodness. I opted for the breakfast burrito. Soyrizo, potatoes, fresh verde, salsa… Oh my! She went with the Cesar salad. That grilled chik’n was done to perfection.
I normally don’t write reviews but this place is simply bad, the restaurant has a walk up and order before sitting style but there is also an option to order online via a QR code at your table. I chose to order inside in order to be able to make modifications to my order, the woman who I placed my order with looked extremely disinterested and wasn’t warm or nice. Food was a whole new level of mediocre, there was dog feces next to our table, and my iced tea only arrived after talking to multiple waiters and after all of the rest of our food arrived. There are many other better options on Montana, and even on the block.
Cocktails are well made and the fries are amazing!
LOVE everything about Margo’s!!! I wish I could give 10 stars. The food is beyond delicious and all of my friends (both vegan and non) say the same! Even my kids love the food. Lauren the manager is an amazing addition as well as Mike the bartender. Perfect restaurant to sit outside too, with or without children! I love the environment and energy here. More restaurants need to make the switch for our health, the animals, and the environment. Thank you Margo’s for doing this. ?????
