Absolutely amazing! Not what we expected from what appears to be a "hole in the wall" type restaurant from the street. Everything was perfect. From the tempura veggies to the sushi to the chicken. Perfection. And the wait staff? Just as impeccable as the food. Can't wait to go back.
Came in on late Sunday night. Pretty much asked the sushi chef for his favorite dish. I had one of best meals, the toro was delicious! Everything was fresh & tasty.
My boyfriend and I went here because there was a wait for another sushi restaurant down the street, and it ended up being one of the best meals! It is an unassuming place but the food was incredible. We got the spicy miso ramen and it was amazing!!! We split that as well as some sushi rolls. There was also a sake flight for $15 which was great.Overall, I highly recommend!
Fabulous experience! Was a little louder at the time I was there because of a rowdy table but what can you expect the restaurant is a toast in Japanese. Sushi was fantastic, service was quick and the location is great.. for me!
Wow. What a fantastic and authentic sushi place. Eveything was so fresh and tasty, evey meal had a unique and special taste, the sauces were absolutely stunning. And last, but not least the staff was super attentive, which is a big plus. Highly recommended.
very extensive menu. phenomenal menu. service was superb! If you want to try a new sushi place (was our 1st time) go here. We will be returning actively. Was able to host our large reservation also.
One of the biggest selections of sushi from Japan, authentic and fresh. Peter suggested some of the best sushi dishes I have had. An unassuming gem.
The sushi and spicy miso noodles were great but they were short staffed and service was slow. They forgot to put in my ramen order so I waited. Didnt give military discount, not cool at all. And to top it off, no fountain soda. Everywhere I eat you get free refills, but I had to pay 6 bucks for two cans of soda. I know they do that in Japan but this ain't Japan. I did love the food but I may try out a few different places before possibly coming back
We went to Kanpai last month while visiting LA and we were BLOWN AWAY. The owner ended up serving us omakase and it was amazing. He had so much knowledge for every item he brought us, and little stories to go with different dishes. Anytime we come to LA from now on, we will RUN to kanpai. It was a rather expensive meal, but worth every single penny.
Wildly overpriced. Boring Ramen with no toppings. Very overpriced sushi. Would not return. Seats are empty. There's a reason for that.
