Food and service were excellent would highly recommend a great night out
I had a wonderful experience from beginning to end. I was sat at a corner table I specifically wanted that gave me a wide view of their operations. Two of their staff serviced me; both gave me plenty of time to explore the menu and ask (very many) questions. They even adjusted the table lamp for me to read the menu easier, a small compassionate touch I very much appreciated. I first ordered a glass of their Soave. I was told that it is a richer expression of Pino Grigio; I second that. It had a medium body, bright acidity, notes of honeydew on my palate, and a smooth, buttery finish. I think the Soave would be a great choice if you want an Italian alternative to their California Chardonnay. For my first course, I ordered the Carciofini. I was a little daunted by the massive slice of parmesan that topped the salad, but I discovered it allowed me to have a piece of cheese in every bite. This is an excellently refined starter. Then came the Tagliolini e Radicchio. The sauce had a perfect level of richness that gave room for the guanciale, radicchio, and pasta to speak for themselves. One server told me this is his favorite, and I definitely see why. For dessert, I had tiramisu and cheesecake, the duel of which I rule the cheesecake as the winner. It had the right balance between sweet and savory and helped carry the high note that the Soave started through the end of my meal. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, my preferred way to conclude my day off. I plan to visit again soon to try another pasta and see if the Tagliolini I had today will become my favorite dish, too.
On vacation in Santa Monica and Caffe Delfini was walking distance to our hotel. We dined on the patio, which was lovely and our meals were delicious!
If you eat outside, be prepared to have a table option so go with people who enjoy. Food and service and everything else excellent.
They are the best. Iâve been going for decades. Paul
Absolutely great experience starting with owner greeting at door and table and owner actually waiting on the table. A real Italian experience
way better than Baldi across the street...and much less pretentious
We love Cafe Delfini! Warm, friendly spot with wonderful food.
Outstanding food and service. Great veal chop and tartufo
Had a friend visiting us from out of town and we walked down to Cafe Delifini. The food and service is always over the top. Last night, a disappointment. Not on the food, which was amazing. But we sat on the last table closest to the ocean. We were left to languish. I asked for some bread and the three of us were given a basket with 3 of the smallest pieces of bread on earth. We were even served our appetizers to split before we received our bread. When they served the bread, I asked for some oil and vinegar to enjoy the bread. We were given two bottles, but no plates to put the oil and vinegar onto. Kind of crazy?? We had no spare bread plates, but the wait person had disappeared. We did not see anyone until our meals were dropped at the table. We were neglected for the rest of the night. The heating Lamps went off and it became very cold. Instead of re-lighting the floor standing heater, it was suggested I change seats to be more exposed to the ceiling mounted heater. Seriously, why do I need to be told to change my seat? Isnât it possible to just relight the floor standing heater. Who makes the decision of how we sit around a table? The diner who pays the bill or the restaurant ? Hint to those who like to safely eat outside - donât sit at the table closest to the beach. You may be forgotten.
