We had the good luck of having breakfast there!!! Man on man was it good!!!! Great portions. I also got a chili verde plate to go WOW!!!! I can’t wait to try their burgers!!! If you’re in Santa Maria you have to try them. They have been around since 1959!!!!!
The burrito grande was just as advertised, tri-tip was super tender, tender as I've ever had, the burrito was humongous, or rather ginormous! the sauce they put on the burrito was super delicious the salsa was great, as a whole package, simply marvelous.Thanks to Alyssa for having my meal served within 10 minutes of arriving.I'll definitely be back???❤️
The food is good, the portions are massive, service is excellent. I can make 2 meals from one meal. To top it all off, the music is great! This is my go to when delivering loads in the area. The restaurant is adjacent to a small truck stop.

I thought everything was excellent. Boyfriend had the chicken fried steak breakfast and I got the red snapper and clam chowder. The clam chowder was served a little lukewarm, but the flavor was good and it had large chunks of bacon and clam. I ordered the red snapper based on a photo I saw on yelp. As a trucker, there are very few opportunities for eating fish, so when I saw it, I was set on ordering it. It was not on the menu, but it was written on a black chalkboard hanging up, along with salmon. The fish was flaky and tasted fresh. I've never had fish cooked in pico de gallo before but it worked. The portion was very generous and it came with a huge serving of vegetables as well. I added some salt, but I basically add salt to everything. It was a very satisfying light, clean, and healthy meal.The chicken fried steak was different than what we've had. When it first arrived, we both thought it looked a little dark. I was expecting it to taste a little burnt, but it didn't! It just looks that way. It was very meaty, and the texture of the meat was also different. It wasn't that soft sort of ground meat texture, it was like a piece of carne asada meat was battered then fried. It had more of a steak-y chew and flavor. He enjoyed it very much. The gravy was delicious as well and also had large chunks of bacon in it, I like the way this place thinks ;) The hash browns were perfectly crispy!To address the comments about the air, it is pretty stuffy in there and it also did a number on my clothes and hair. After I left I smelled like I had been standing over a fryer all day. Not a big deal for most, but if you have breathing problems maybe not a good idea.Our server was friendly, warm, and genuine. All staff we interacted with were very nice! Very glad we tried this place out! Next time we're here we will definitely try the tri tip sandwich so many other reviewers mentioned!
Pretty disappointed. Got in, and parked well early enough before closing, and tried to place a To go. Couldn't get anyone to answer the phone.Oh well..... plenty of BETTER choices for Tri tip in town.
No doubt is my favorite place for breakfast! I normally have a waffle with strawberry and cream!! This time I tried the California omelette!!! So good with home fries!!!!
We were very happy with our visit to Pappy's. Everything tasted fresh and there was plenty of food for the price. Prices every where have gone up and this place is no exception but at least you get plenty of food for the price. They have a wide range of food to choose from Mexican, Italian and regular diner food. The menu is large with plenty of choices for everyone in your party. We were pleased and we will return when in the area. Service was great too.
I did a lot of driving before I stumbled across this little gem but I was so impressed. The country fried steak knocked me off my feet it was so good. Highly recommend
When my wife and I are in Santa Maria WE always stop! They have been around for along time... They are doing EVERYTHING right! Don't change a thing! You'll be here another 50 years.
