First started going to Zachary's in the 80s when they first opened. It has kind of an industrial feel inside with old tables and high ceilings which is a good ambient for downtown Santa Cruz. I left the area 30 years ago, was back visiting family and friends and went Zachary's to for breakfast. There are a lot of changes on Pacific Ave (Logos closed) but Zachary's had a similar feel. Great food and good service, highly recommend.

Very nice brunch spot. Casual, fun atmosphere accompanied by fantastic food! I can personally reccomend the Mike's mess and the breakfast sandwich.

Did not disappoint. Hubby had the sourdough waffle, I had french toast with a side of scrambled eggs with cheddar. Everything was perfect, but the scrambled eggs were the best I have had. Weird, right? Raving about scrambled eggs? But, they were that good. Super casual, very busy, extensive menu, excellent food. Maybe we will visit again tomorrow.....

The pancakes were pretty good and a good amount of food portion. Great coffee! Took the family out here for brunch. The only thing I didn't like was the amount of spinach stuffed in my omelette, it was way too much and the smell was strong. The texture of the spinach reminds me of frozen spinach that have been defrosted and turned dark green. I took them out of my omelette since it was overwhelming everything else.

Outstanding place for breakfast. Hearty food, top quality and well-prepared, really tasty. Homey atmosphere and friendly staff. I'll be back when I am in town.

Just took my mom our to breakfast here the other day. It was the first time I had been to Zachary's in a few years, and it wasn't as good as I remembered. The artichoke frittata was pretty tasty and the fruit cup side actually had mangoes and kiwis in it, but the breakfast potatoes were bland, the "fuego" house salsa was pretty ho-hum, the coffee was weak, the sourdough bread was dense and unimpressive, and the bacon was crispy in the middle and almost raw on the ends. Gotta get those things right as a breakfast/brunch spot.

We came on a Saturday around noon and there were several large parties and many parties of two ahead of us. If you are flexible and don't mind sitting at the counter, you can be seated more quickly. That's what we chose to do and were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. We had a liter of mimosas to start. I ordered the Junior Mess and my husband had the basic burger. Both were delicious, but let me say, that burger was anything but basic. The burger was juicy and cooked medium, the bread was super soft, and every bite my husband allowed me to steal away was welcome.

I've come here twice within the past 6 months and it's been solid every time. The service is quick and the food is great for what you pay for. The Breakfast Sandwich is also fire, would recommend trying it out. Definitely my favorite breakfast diner in Santa Cruz.

As you get old, and your feet hurt and your hearing goes vague and misleading, a big bottle of nostalgia is the perfect breakfast condiment, along with a couple of doses of good long term friends. So where do you go 30 years later? Where do you go that hasn’t changed and was perfect in your youth? Zachary’s.Welcoming old decor, aged but not shabby, same wood floors and high ceilings.I mention to the waitress how in the old days, the wait staff would tell the cook if someone looked like they were on hard times and he would pile on the potatoes so they could at least be full for the start of the day. The waitress tells me it’s the same owners and they treat staff like family (and her eyes get a little misty). My friends have pretty complicated instructions about what they want and how they want it and the waitress doesn’t bat an eye. I get those amazing home fries that are savory, crisp, soft in the center and of generous amount and I get the chili which is obviously fresh and simmered to perfection. Clear distinct flavors that have blended, but not been lost in each other, like a good marriage. Was it that good when I was young? Is it actually an improvement over the perfection of youth? It brings back memories of breakfast with Page and Paul when I was but a raw skinny little sprout.Thank you Zachary’s! You put a nice burnished glow on the memories of an old man.

I used to come here 20 years ago. Came back for a little vacation and it is so nice to see that this place has not changed. Service is still amazing! People there are so nice. Food was quick. I hope they are around long enough for when my kids bring thier kids here. ❤❤❤
