Tasty ice cream however it was very soft. We’ve been here several times but this time the ice cream was very soft and partially melted already. It might be because the lid wasn’t closed but it was disappointing to have ice real that was already so soft. I’d come back if I happened to be next door but this wasn’t a great experience
If we had known this place was here, we would’ve been here every day. We came back twice as it is. My husband got the waffle cone with the cherry snickerdoodle ice cream and got the marshmallow cream on top which they torch. He got this both days. I just had their vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, but today I added the toasted marshmallow cream on top. Yummy!! Everything is made in house abs flavors change often.

I was in town and wanting some really good ice cream. Saw this on the map and it was open and had good reviews so thought I'd check it out. I got the cardamom pistachio chocolate chip with half of dark chocolate sorbet with the marshmallow topping. I honestly didn't enjoy this place. The ice creams texture and flavors just weren't there for me. But the people who were there seemed nice and the ambiance was pleasant. Definitely wouldn't come back here.
This is the best vanilla ice cream I have ever had. I know it is basic but there is something so buttery good about the Tahini Vanilla Bean flavor. Some people may not like their more experimental flavors so I would stick to the vanilla. The marshmellow fluff is popular here for the pictures but I feel like it didn't add much to the icecream so I could go without it.
DEFINITELY get the marshmallow fluff!! The Penny Ice Creamery always has a handful of interesting new flavors and they are pretty much always excellent. Friendly staff too. Huge plus, it's open late! I have to go here every time I visit Santa Cruz.
