I so used to love this place. For years. From just a year ago, the sandwich we used to get has more than doubled in price, going from 16.95 to 36.95. The quality of the sandwich we got has also gone down (the flavor of crab was nowhere near as nice) and the smoked salmon has also decreased in quality in just the few short years we've gone here. It's still a perfectly fine experience, but nowhere near the value or experience it used to be. If you've been a fan of here in the past, as much as it pains me to say, I'd look in to checking out another spot. I hope they figure it out soon, because they used to be such a huge part of our vacation.
Awesome calamari and fries. The calamari are stick style, no rings or tenticles.. Just the way I like!
With this place having such a rich history with Santa Cruz and the wharf we were really excited to get some warm, fresh, creamy Clam Chowder. We were terribly disappointed!! What we paid good money for was a container of small clams, small potatoes and tons of thickening agent. Let’s not forget the package of crackers. You could taste the starch over anything. Safeway has better chowder. If any members of this family are still associated with the restaurant/ or managers please please do better! Should have went to Olitas.
It’s a nicely located food stop. We had the clam with fries and the coconut shrimp with fries. The clam had so much batter around it that I could hardly taste the clam. Otherwise it was fine. The location and the back story is definitely the selling point.
Very disappointed in our visit today. We have been coming here since I was a little girl and this was always our go-to spot when visiting the wharf. The past few years (5 or so) the flavors have been falling off but I keep coming back hoping for it to get better. Unfortunately todays trip leaves me with less hope. The clam chowder (not photographed) had no flavor and the consistency felt like a frozen chowder that has been reheated multiple times. I couldn’t eat but a few bites. The crab, in both the crab cocktail and the sandwich, was extremely salty and literally left a bad taste in my husband’s and my mouths. They are currently under construction for the restaurant so I’m giving an extra star in hopes that the reason for the quality and flavor is lack of their usual facilities, and I hope once they open back up fully that their original flavors will emerge. *Fingers Crossed*
Best seafood restaurant in Santa Cruz.
A really popular and relatively affordable casual dining spot located on the long boardwalk. It’s manned by a number of friendly workers but you’re kind of on your own after you’ve placed your order - they have outdoor dining so you need to find your own seating and it can get quite crowded. You also have to wait in front of the counter so you’re there when your food is ready and they call out your name. Not much method to the madness but given the good, fresh tasty food, one can bear this minor discomfort.Coming to the food - They sell fresh seafood as well. The clam chowder is very popular and I checked with them to ensure it didn’t contain pork. It is quite delicious and served with crunchy saltines. For around six dollars you get a decent portion size. With this I recommend getting the fresh fish tacos - these are 3 pretty large doubled up taco wraps with a good mix of fresh pan fried fish, veggies, sauces and interestingly - apples! Have it with a squeeze of fresh lime and enjoy it with the ocean view. Finally, try the fish burger - which is a fried fish filet in a sesame burger bun with onions, lettuce and tomatoe - the lettuce looked a bit old but remove it and add some hot sauce and you’re good to go. They also give fries on the side. Portion sizes are generous!
First Solo off day in Santa Cruz. Sunny, cool, breezy, no crowds of tourist! Best time to come enjoy a classic afternoon snack at the Warf. Clams/Prawns and Chips..."a Can of Santa Cruz Brew just for you" & life begins again! Thanks for still being here Stagnaro Bros...Love what you do!???
Great clam chowder! Had to eat outside on tables that were set up outside the restaurant. The restaurant is being renovated and was closed. Looking forward to when it opens up again.
The chowder was ok. Based on the reviews and stars this place had, I was expecting way way better. It was very potato-y. Too much potatoes for my liking, I like clams in my clam chowdah! Bread for the bowl was tasty though
